Teresa Giudice Officially Reports To Prison: From Housewife To Inmate
Teresa Giudice of The Real Housewives of New Jersey has officially stepped out of the mansion and into a cell. The reality television star reported to prison and checked in early on Monday morning.
As TMZ reported, she will be serving out her entire 15-month sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut. Her arrival at the prison came around 3:00 a.m., and she didn’t have her husband, Joe Giudice, with her.
Back in March, Teresa Giudice did plead guilty to bankruptcy fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud and mail fraud. Joe Giudice also pleaded guilty to fraud and will serve his prison sentence after his wife completes her time behind bars.
Oddly enough, she is serving her time in the prison that inspired the hit Netflix show Orange Is the New Black. She may end up getting just as much support in prison as she does online.
Joe Giudice will begin his 3.5 year prison sentence right after Teresa’s is over as the judge allowed one parent to be with their children at all times.
Their two oldest daughters – Gia (13), Gabriella (10) – do know that their mother will be going to prison. As for the two youngest daughters – Milania (8), Audriana (4) – they think their mother is going to prison to work on a book about prison.
ABC News did report that Teresa Giudice had one more meal at a diner before heading into prison. Jame J. Leonard, her attorney, said that she was ready to get things going and start the term to get it over with.
“I think she was anxious to get in, get this thing started, get it behind her, and get back to her family. Her four girls are her primary focus.”
Leonard said that Giudice did a lot to try and get ready for her prison term by doing he homework. She began talking with female inmates who had just recently been released from the same prison, and Leonard says she was told to be “friendly but guarded” while inside.
“They told her to keep her head up, that she would make it through.”
Teresa Giudice’s prison term has officially started, but she will be allowed visits with family, and one could even be as soon as this weekend. The Real Housewives of New Jersey will be without one of their debut stars for one-and-a-half or two seasons, and that may be why they’ve talked about bringing back a few faces from the past.
