Waiter ‘N Word’ Check Shatila Lebanese Grill: 18-Year-Old Waiter Fired After Writing ‘N Word’ On Customer’s Check

A waiter typed the “N word” on a check at Shatila Lebanese Grill in Arlington, Texas, and he got fired for doing so. According to the SpreadIt, the waiter named Ragheed put the word on the table’s check in the area where the table name or number would go. The change reportedly came when a group of six customers that he was serving requested separate checks. All six people in the group were of color, making that somehow “okay” in Ragheed’s mind to write the word as a “joke.” All four checks received by the group had the same word next to the word “table.”

“He just kinda downplayed it. He said, ‘Oh no no no… I didn’t mean anything by it.’ I went to sleep thinking about it, went to sleep upset about it, and woke up upset about it,” said Jasmine Tucker, one of the customers in the group of friends.

The waiter who put the “N word” on the check at Shatila Lebanese Grill didn’t have much to say when speaking to local media. When asked why he wrote the word on the check, he responded, “my bad,” and didn’t say anything else. According to Sport Act, the incident occurred on New Year’s Eve, and for the group of friends, it really ruined their night.

“All capital letters, just right there. I just did a double take. I was like, ‘Wow.’ It was just a shock to me,” said customer Justyce Hill, who was also in the group. “They made the wrong judge of character with us. We are not that and we don’t call each other that.”

“We’re being labeled. This is what they identified us as, and not the three girls and three guys,” said customer Ta’les Russell.

The owner of the eatery, Mike Salame, said that the waiter was fired the moment he heard what had happened.

The waiter who put the “N word” on the check at Shatila Lebanese Grill had only been working at the restaurant for a week. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, other complaints about Ragheed had been brought to his attention in that short period of time, and Mr. Salame said that he was on the verge of being fired anyway.

It is unknown what those other complaints were, but it’s clear that the restaurant has a no tolerance policy when it comes to racist remarks. Mr. Salame apologized to the customers.

“I’m just sorry man… I’m just sorry. It’s very very improper. There is [sic] no exceptions at all. That’s why when I found out, on the spot, I terminated him… on the spot.”

For those curious about the waiter’s race, Ragheed is Persian, according to reports.
