A wheelchair-bound man in California has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after he sexually assaulted an eight-month-old chinuahua. The man on parole at the time of the attack and will now be required to register as a sex offender.
Robert Edward De Shields was renting a room from a Sacramento family when the homeowners returned to the house and found the chinuahua Shadow in “pain and shock.”
After an examination a doctor said the dog had experienced severe damage to its internal organs
The Sacramento Bee reports that Shadow had surgery to fix his injuries and is being cared for in a foster home. The new owner of the injured puppy told a judge:
“Shadow is a victim in every sense of the word.” The owner also revealed that Shadow is now extremely afraid of men “like many victims of sexual assault.”
The vet that operated on Shadow fears that the poor puppy may never fully recover from his injuries.
Do you think 10 years was a fair sentence given the extremely cruel name of the attack and the fact that the man was already on parole.
