Shiloh Jolie-Pitt has won a new fan in former video vixen Amber Rose. However, Amber’s recent complimentary comments about 8-year-old Shiloh were just a tad misguided.
According to E! News , Rose recently posted an Instagram photo of Shiloh Jolie-Pitt wearing a very dapper suit. Rose gushed about Shiloh’s beauty in the caption.
“How gorgeous is John Jolie Pitt?! Born into the perfect family for him. #TransKids #LoveurKidsNoMatterWhat#Support.”

You’ll notice that Amber referred to Shiloh as “John Jolie Pitt.” As the Inqusitir previously reported, Angelina Jolie has actually talked about Shiloh’s desire to be called John before. During a 2008 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Jolie explained how Shiloh became a fan of the name when she was 2-years-old.
“She only wants to be called John. John or Peter. So it’s a ‘Peter Pan’ thing. So we’ve got to call her John. ‘Shi, do you want…’ ‘John. I’m John.’ And then I’ll say, ‘John, would you like some orange juice?’ And she goes, ‘No!’ So, you know, it’s just that kind of stuff that’s cute to parents and it’s probably really obnoxious to other people.”
You’ll notice that Angelina used the pronoun “she” when referring to Shiloh Jolie-Pitt during that interview. This could be an indication that she didn’t think of the cherubic blonde toddler as being transgender. During a 2010 interview with Vanity Fair , she still used female pronouns when talking about her child. However, she also said that Shiloh wants to be a boy.
“She likes to dress like a boy. She wants to be a boy. So we had to cut her hair. She likes to wear boys’ everything. She thinks she’s one of the brothers.”
An interview for the June 2014 issue of Elle features a more recent example of Angelina Jolie referring to Shiloh as “she.”
“I asked Shiloh about being Aurora, and she laughed in my face… she said she’d be a horned creature.”
You’ll also notice that Jolie asked Shiloh about playing a female character in the movie Maleficent . If she felt that Shiloh’s gender identity was truly male, why bother offering her offspring the princess role?
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt might let Shiloh dress like a boy and go by the name John, but Angelina continues to refer to the 8-year-old as a girl. Angelina and Brad have also never described Shiloh as being transgender. It’s unlikely that their child will clear things up anytime soon by talking to the press about gender identity, so it’s probably best to avoid labeling the little one.
What do you think of Amber Rose’s comment about Shiloh Jolie-Pitt? Was it okay because her heart was in the right place, or was she wrong to make an assumption about a child she knows so little about?
