WWE News: Edge And Christian Announce They Are Filing A Multi-Million Dollar Lawsuit Against WWE
If you saw WWE Raw, you saw Edge and Christian get into an altercation with The Big Show, Seth Rollins, and by proxy….The Authority. Rollins attacked Christian with his Money in the Bank briefcase in the ribs, knocking him out of the ring. He then held down Edge and told John Cena that if he didn’t bring back The Authority, he would paralyze him. Rollins even almost succeeded in doing so despite Cena doing as asked.
Edge and Christian both did not take kindly do this, and on WWE Main Event last night, they both spoke about how they are planning to own the WWE if anything happened to them the rest of their time there. They are also planning to further sue WWE, as later in the show Michael Cole informed everyone of their multi-million dollar case. They said they only showed up to Main Event because they were contractually obligated. They are supposed to fill people in more on WWE SmackDown this Friday regarding the lawsuit according to the announcers. Of course, this is all a big storyline. So do not fear.
The idea was taken from the UFC. There is currently an ongoing lawsuit with UFC and some of it’s talent, so WWE wanted to take a shot at it. Some find it a bit weird, but this is a real world reaction to what Rollins did. He threatened the life of Edge, and risked major injury to Christian. Both are retired and both are no longer able to compete physically in a WWE ring. Christian cannot do to concussion issues and Edge cannot due to his neck.
The lawsuit makes sense to see, as again, it is a reaction to something that would happen in the ring world. The problem is that WWE did it all to really just cut at UFC, a company WWE does not see as competition according to Vince McMahon himself. Honestly, they are not. Ratings wise for PPV and TV, they do not get the numbers WWE has. Money wise, UFC does relatively well. However, one is a sport and the other is entertainment.
The shots being fired also make no sense in the long-run for WWE. WWE has been sued hundreds of times for real, not just storyline.
What this does however, is cool. Edge and Christian may appear on more shows and add to the WrestleMania build up. Obviously neither can wrestle, but it is always cool to see them on TV. Both are always entertaining.
Lawsuits are a common place in WWE, and they take a while to get resolved. So we will have to wait and see how far this goes with Edge and Christian and the WWE. Seeing as E&C are the last guest hosts of RAW due to The Authority being back, we could assume WWE wanted to have them put into some sort of program that could work for them. It is only more press for both in Haven on SyFy, so the more we see them, the better.
