If you managed to catch the last WWE RAW of the year, you saw a pretty good show. However, the end was what left everyone talking. The Authority is now back. John Cena was forced into bringing the hated duo back when Seth Rollins went full fledged manic and was willing to paralyze WWE Hall of Famer Edge.
Big Show came out and once Rollins took out Christian, Edge was left to defend himself against Show, Rollins and J&J Security. This was not good for him. Show then grabbed Edge and held his head down on the Money in the Bank briefcase in full position for Rollins to curb stomp him.
Rollins delivered what many are calling the promo of his career when he spoke of how he would paralyze a father and husband in Edge. If Cena didn’t bring back The Authority, he was willing to take out Edge and make a statement. Cena then agreed to bring back The Authority to protect Edge. Once he did so, Rollins told Cena “you should know me by now John, I’m gonna kill him anyway.” Rollins then prepared to curb stomp Edge despite Cena fulfilling his wishes.
Cena was able to get in the ring to stop the move from going down. While Edge got away, Cena was left to take the place of Edge in curb stomp city.
WWE realized that despite the thought of The Authority being a hated group that fans booed, they brought in ratings to programming each week. Basically, they are a team that WWE fans love to hate. WWE knew that bringing them back was going to happen eventually, however it appears that they sped it up a bit to help ratings. This is also a very big thing when it comes to Rollins and even Sting.
While some rumors have claimed that Rollins may face Sting instead of Triple H, it is unknown what will go down with Sting at this point. So we could end up seeing a lot of possibilities with him. However, the big rumor that continues to get traction is Rollins cashing in on Brock Lesnar to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
The rumor started a month ago that WWE wasn’t exactly keen on the idea of having Reigns win the Royal Rumble and main event WrestleMania 31 . This led to other names such as Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler being thought of for the spot. This was then leading into an issue with rumored plans of Reigns facing Lesnar. That turned into backstage rumblings of Seth Rollins cashing in on Lesnar at Royal Rumble to win the title and then lose it at WrestleMania 31 .
If Rollins cashed in and won, it would leave the field wide open for who could win the Rumble match. If he does not, Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns will be the match they go with. WWE could still do this match without the title, which could still make Reigns. So Lesnar/Reigns is not thrown completely out the window of Rollins cashes in.
WWE wants to use all their great talent in WrestleMania this year. So we can expect Bray Wyatt, Seth Rollins, Dolph Ziggler, Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose to all have a major role. The issue is, where does WWE fit them all in? That will become a lot clearer after The Royal Rumble in a few weeks.
Whether Rollins decides to cash in on Lesnar or wait until after WrestleMania to cash in on the champion, he will have to cash in relatively soon. Backstage talk and fan likability has never been higher on Rollins than it is now, so what was once a simple thought of Rollins cashing in could become reality in WWE very soon.
