WWE News: More Concern Over Roman Reigns Not Being Ready For Main Event
In the last few months, there have been few WWE superstars talked about more than Roman Reigns. It all began with his emergency surgery to repair a hernia in the Fall, which led to Reigns missing a boatload of time. For a young WWE wrestler to get injured right before a big push, that had all the signs of his career being stifled for a long time.
However, the WWE officials believe in Reigns to take over for John Cena as the WWE’s top guy. Reigns has the look and family history to succeed in the WWE. Over the last few months, Reigns is looking less-and-less like that “top guy.”
A few weeks ago, the Inquisitr reported that Reigns was in danger of losing his WrestleMania 31-push towards the WWE World Heavyweight championship. Nothing is set in stone right now, but Reigns isn’t capitalizing on this opportunity from the WWE.
According to WrestleChat.net, there is more backstage concern over Roman Reigns and his rise to the top.
“There continues to be a lot of backstage talk about whether or not Roman Reigns is really ready for a big push to the WWE World Heavyweight Title. After Reigns’ count out win over Big Show on last Monday’s RAW, there was more of this talk and talk about Reigns’ lack of reaction from the fans.”
“There was also criticism in regards to how WWE wouldn’t put Reigns over clean in that match with Big Show. Even though last week’s Christmas RAW was a throw-away, there’s a feeling that they need to show confidence in his matches on TV if they still plan on pushing him to the main event of WrestleMania 31 with Brock Lesnar.”
Right now, there are two sides to the discussion. The supporters of Roman Reigns will put the blame on the placement of the match in the show last week on Christmas Raw. One observer of Raw said he received a Batista-like reaction, which simply means that it was mixed.
Reigns is supposed to be the mega-babyface, and he is getting mixed reactions from the crowd. WWE officials cannot be 100% confident in Reigns at the moment. At first, John Cena rarely got booed as he began his climb to the top. Cena perfected the role of babyface.
Looking ahead to January and February, the WWE has the Royal Rumble and their new pay-per-view, Fast Lane. Fans might jump to conclusions and assume that the Elimination Chamber is gone. Well, that could be a proper assumption. An interesting note about WWE Fast Lane is that Reigns is on the poster.
In what could be a bad situation for the WWE, Reigns has no choice but to step his game up before the Royal Rumble. Like John Cena’s entrance music suggests, his time is now. If the WWE is putting a main event-push in front of him, that “brass ring” needs to be grabbed.
