GameStop explains removal of “The Last Guardian” from its system

Earlier today, GameStop removed The Last Guardian from its website and mistakenly sent out calls to customers who had pre-ordered, telling them that The Last Guardian was canceled. It would have made sense, especially considering recent news that several of the main team on The Last Guardian stepped down from Sony.

As it turns out, that wasn’t the reason that GameStop removed the listing from the website at all, and the automated call to customers was a mistake. To alleviate the fears of The Last Guardian fans (and in the process correct their mistake), GameStop issued a statement to Kotaku, saying that The Last Guardian has not been canceled.

A GameStop spokesperson explained the removal of The Last Guardian from the website (and their system), saying:

“Because the game did not have a specific release date, GameStop made the decision to remove the game from our system. The Last Guardian will be reinstated for pre-order when a firm launch date is known.”

The Last Guardian may not have a release date and several people involved in it may be leaving Sony, but you can at least take comfort in the fact that it isn’t canceled.
