‘Tis The Season Of ‘Best Pop Songs of 2014’ YouTube Compilations — What Are Some Of The Best? [Video]
Along with its endless stream of people undergoing laughing gas and cat videos, the YouTube cycle has also unearthed another trend that’s just as saturated as any other default category of videos uploaded to the web the rest of the year: covers of pop songs. More specifically, the year-end “best pop songs of 2014 in 5/10/15 minutes” compilations.
Like the pop songs being featured themselves, the compilations can be pretty hit or miss. There are dozens of acoustic guitar male/female duos, and even a fair amount of trios and quartets to wade through this year. Still, a few have emerged that have a decent spin on the concept.
If the YouTube renditions aren’t doing it for, you’re always welcome to watch all of the complete versions of the so-called “top songs of 2014,” strung together for your convenience in a YouTube playlist that has everything from Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” to Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda.”
