Some of the biggest stores have a gift return policy that’s very welcoming. If you want to take something back you got for Christmas or want a refund, the stores listed here will be among the best places to get returns hassle-free.

According to Go Banking Rates , Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Costco are among the best stores with uncomplicated return policies.

As the Home Depot return policy lists, there’s a 90-day time frame to get a cash refund with your receipt. If you make a return after the 90-day period — or do so without a receipt — a store credit will be issued for the amount of the item’s lowest selling price.

Special orders are handled differently for Home Depot’s return policy. Orders returned or cancelled have an automatic 15 percent restocking fee and must be returned to the same store location where it was purchased.

Lowe’s allows 90 days as part of their return policy for a cash refund or direct exchange. For appliances like large refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, range hoods, outdoor power equipment, and trailers, you have 30 days.

In the event that you don’t have the receipt, the purchase can be brought up with your credit card, checking account number, or MyLowe’s card, or your phone number. Store credits are given instead of regular returns with a valid receipt.

Costco: Most items don’t have a time limit for returns; they can be returned in the form of cash or a check. The exception is electronics, which Costco enforces a 90-day time period for TVs, computers, cameras, touch screen tablets, camcorders, cell phones, etc. If there’s not a receipt, the return can be made with a Costco membership number. This is at select locations.

Kohl’s allows up to an entire year from the item’s purchase date to return it for a cash refund. If you wait longer or don’t have the receipt, you can either have a store credit or receive a store check in the mail. Take up to a full year from an item’s original date of purchase to return it for a cash refund. Gift receipts qualify for a merchandise credit.

L.L. Bean has no time limits on when you return an item — and it doesn’t matter what condition the merchandise is in. If you don’t have a receipt, you won’t be eligible for a cash refund, but a gift card will be issued for the current amount that the item is worth.

Money Talks News mentions the same stores in their Top 10 Stores With the Best Return Policies . Home Depot, Lowe’s, Costco are listed along with many others. Those include Target , Walmart, Zappos, Nordstrom, Toys ‘R’ Us, J.C. Penney, Athleta, Macy’s, and L.L. Bean.
