John Bon Jovi is dead! Twitter was aflutter today with the (false) news that the rocker had passed away. But Jon Bon Jovi isn’t dead. He’s just living in New Jersey.
After he caught wind of the rumor that he was deceased, the “Living on a Prayer” singer posed for a picture of himself holding a sign declaring that if he’s dead, then “heaven looks a lot like New Jersey.” Bon Jovi’s photographer friend David Bergman snapped the photo and sent it out into the Twitterverse. Bergman said:
“I happened to be with Jon Bon Jovi when we heard rumors of his death. He’s alive and well and I shot this to prove it,”
The International Business Times reports that a fake press release was circulated around today that claimed Bon Jovi had been rushed to the hospital after suffering a heart attack and that thousands of reporters were waiting outside to learn if the singer had survived.
His rep confirmed that the singer was alive and was playing a charity concert tonight in New Jersey.
Bon Jovi isn’t the first person to be “killed” on Twitter. Etta James , Jackie Chan , Hugh Hefner , Jim Carrey , Fred Savage, Britney Spears and several other celebrities have “died” on Twitter.
