Politician Who Follows Duke University Porn Star Belle Knox Says His Twitter Was Hacked
Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone claims that his Twitter account had been hacked when it was discovered that he was following porn star Belle Knox.
This is not the first time Belle Knox has been in the news recently. According to a report from the Inquisitr, Belle Knox is an avid supporter of the legalization of prostitution.
Bellone, a married father with three kids, is running for re-election next year. He is best known for blaming a hacker for connecting him to lewd material on the web. Bellone ran for mayor in 2013, only to lose when new instances of his online dalliances surfaced.
Belle Knox became famous last year, after she was discovered in porn as an extracurricular activity while studying at Duke University. She claimed that she did porn so she could pay for the high tuition at Duke. Knox has openly spoken about her activities and defends herself, despite having appeared in Playboy, Hustler, and the Sex Factor reality show. Knox’s Twitter account has 105,000 followers. Bellone’s account was discovered to be following Knox, and he insists that he had no idea of this incident.
“County Executive Bellone’s Twitter account, which is operated by his staff, has been hacked and an obscene Twitter account was subsequently followed,” said his spokeswoman, Vanessa Baird-Streeter. “A formal complaint has been filed with Twitter and to the third-party software used to assist in managing the account. His staff has instituted stricter security protocols to ensure an incident like this does not happen in the future.”
The Bellone aide also said that “law-enforcement authorities have been notified and the Suffolk County Police Department is currently investigating.” There has no been no evidence that Bellone contacted Belle Knox at all through personal messages.
Twitter has yet to comment on this situation. Whether his account was really hacked is up for debate, but Bellone’s past hasn’t been exactly perfect. This incident, however, will affect Bellone’s re-election next year, although the effect may vary based on whether Bellone’s account was actually hacked.
