Michelle Brimhall: Lennon Lacy’s White Girlfriend Believes He Was Murdered By Racist Neighbors Over Interracial Relationship
Michelle Brimhall, Lennon Lacy’s white girlfriend, believes that Lacy was murdered by her white neighbors. In an exclusive interview with the New York Daily News, Brimhall stated that her white neighbors opposed the interracial black/white relationship she had with Lennon Lacy.
“I believe Lennon was murdered. The police ruled his death a suicide but Lennon would never harm himself. He’s got too much love for life.”
Lennon Lacy was a 17-year-old African-American teen who was found hanging on a wooden swing set in a predominantly white trailer park in a rural section of Bladenboro, North Carolina. His strange death was ruled a homicide by the coroner in his home town. Lacy’s parents, friends, and family do not believe that he would take his own life, especially by hanging.
In fact, Claudia Lacy believes that her son’s white girlfriend, Michelle Brimhall, knows more about his death than she admits. Weeks ago, some speculated that Brimhall’s ex may have had something to do with the teen football player’s death. Friends had tried to warn young Lennon Lacy about his older girlfriend, stating that she had a bad reputation, and that she was bad news, according to the New York Daily News. But Lennon Lacy couldn’t help himself. He was in love with her.
The circumstances around his death are truly strange. According to Lamont Lilly’s article “Lennon Lacy: A New Generation’s Strange Fruit,” the boy was found hanging from the eerie-looking wooden swing set wearing a pair of white sneakers that didn’t belong to him. More than that, the sneakers were much too small, and his own new black shoes were missing. Investigators also found Lacy with two belts around his neck, belts that did not belong to him. There was also no suicide note found at the scene.
Even more strange, after Lennon Lacy was dead and buried, someone came along and destroyed the grave by removing the burial flowers and bending the marker.
Lennon Lee Lacy’s mother was against the relationship with Brimhall from the start, citing the age difference as the primary reason. Claudia Lacy was also concerned for her son’s safety, since the area is known for KKK activity. The junior lineman was popular at West Bladen High School. The night before his death, he was last seen by his father gathering his football equipment and his socks in preparation for the game the next night. After that, it is said that he left the house at some time during the night to visit his girlfriend, Michelle Brimhall, who lives in the house directly across the street.
The Lennon family was told that just before they moved to the neighborhood, a family who lives in a house behind their home had a sign in the yard with racial slurs. Officers at the police department asked them to remove the sign.
Michelle Brimhall, 32, is adamant that she knows absolutely nothing about what really happened to him but makes it clear that she really loved Lennon Lacy.
“We tried to keep it a secret.()Neighbors had told me they were against interracial relationships and it was ‘not right’ me being with a black guy.”
In a previous report by the Inquisitr, the theory that Lennon Lacy’s death was a lynching and not a suicide was explored.
