Melody Thomas Scott Of ‘Young And Restless’ Health Crisis: What Happened To The Actress?
Fans of The Young and the Restless love Melody Thomas Scott, the actress who has played Nikki Newman for years. Though Scott has remained on-screen and thick in the midst of the story lately, it turns out she’s been dealing with a serious health crisis off-screen. Just what’s been happening with the legendary Y&R actress?
Many fans had noticed that Melody Thomas Scott had stopped tweeting for a while, and now she’s back with an explanation. It seems that Scott has been quite ill, and it’s as a result of a medication she was prescribed to tackle another issue. From the sounds of things, she’s still working on her recovery.
The Young & Restless actress explained the situation.
“Have been incapacitated w/a serious reaction 2 a medication I was prescribed 4 a sinus infection. Have just returned to work after a 6 weeks of misery, a brief hospital stay, & have turned to alternative remedies, as the medical community had nothing 2 offer me. I’ll B utilizing my FB(which I rarely use) to explain the horrific nightmare I’ve been going through. I hope 2 have the energy 2 write it tomorrow. Am thankful that I have gained enough strength 2 B back at work. The recovery has been slow,but improving. Not a secret:I’m actually looking 4 more ppl who have suffered w/this same reaction. These meds should not B available to public. Very serious side effects. God willing I will be able to describe my agonies and slow recovery to all of you tomorrow. Thank you 4 your patience. Miss u all. Xo”
Melody posted the series of tweets on December 14, but so far nothing additional has been posted on the actress’ Facebook page that is linked to both her Twitter page and her website. Does this extended health issue mean that Nikki Newman will be missing from many episodes to come over the next few weeks? According to Soap Opera Digest, that won’t be the case.
A source for Young and the Restless shares that Nikki Newman will actually be quite present in the episodes airing over the holidays, despite Scott’s illness. It seems that when Melody was ill, which would seem to have been throughout November based on her Twitter activity and gap of posts, her Y&R scenes were rescheduled. She was also ill as the Christmas and New Year’s scenes were taped, but viewers will see Nikki in those holiday celebrations as they air. She has still be on the canvas throughout the current episodes, and fans are relieved to know she was still able to tape scenes for the upcoming weeks.
Hopefully Scott is feeling better soon, as the Y&R insider indicates that Nikki Newman has a big storyline ahead for the new year. The actress’ recent health crisis sounds like a very frightening ordeal, and The Young and the Restless fans will be anxious to hear more from Melody Thomas Scott about what happened and how she is doing now.
