Nope! Selena Gomez Didn’t Throw A Crying Fit Over Justin Bieber At Taylor Swift’s Party
Sorry, Jelena devotees. Selena Gomez didn’t cry or throw a “fit” over former beau Justin Bieber at Taylor Swift’s 25th birthday bash.
So says the rep for the actress-singer in a statement given to Gossip Cop.
The outlet reports the spokesperson denied the story, saying, “There is not one ounce of truth to it.”
The claims about Selena’s emotional breakdown were originally reported by Us Weekly.
The magazine said a source saw the Latina have an emotional episode during Swift’s star-studded bash at her Tribeca apartment in New York City on December 13.
“Gomez got emotional about Justin Bieber,” Us Weekly claims an alleged insider recalled, while other celebrities including Karlie Kloss, Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Charli XCX, Nick Jonas, Olivia Culpo, Haim, Angel Egort, and more got stuck into pizza, sushi, and beers.
The source allegedly told the mag, “She shouted, ‘No one understands me! My boyfriend doesn’t even understand me.'”
It was said other guests — including singer Sam Smith — “just stared [at her]” during the alleged outburst, in which the starlet “cried and threw a fit” over her on-off relationship with the Biebs.
Gossip Cop noted that they contacted various sources, all of whom said Gomez’s alleged breakdown didn’t happen and that other partygoers didn’t hear or see her cause any kind of scene.
It has to be said the story did seem odd, given how happy the 22-year-old looked in one of the Instagram snaps Taylor posted after her birthday party.
In the photo, “The Heart Wants What It Wants” songstress is seen looking on contentedly as Swift blows out candles on an impressive looking cake in her Christmas-decorated pad.
Taylor’s caption gushed: “When you’re making a wish, but you already have all you really need standing around you.”
So it looks like the fevered reports around the Internet proclaiming Justin and Selena have secretly reunited, based on the present tense usage in that “No one understands me! My boyfriend doesn’t even understand me” quote, will have to back off that claim.
That probably won’t happen. While the pop princess has spoken kindly of Justin in multiple interviews while promoting her Biebs-inspired song — in the most recent, Selena said she has “so much respect and love for him” — the rumor mill is mostly selling the idea that the pair are at war.
A recent report from Hollywood Life claims Selena is “heartbroken” over Justin dating the model Hailey Baldwin and “nursing a broken heart” over the heartthrob.
Oddly, other reports from the site claim the starlet has gone “cold turkey” on the Biebs and lost all interest in him.
Meanwhile, the newly bleached blonde “Confident” singer took to Instagram on Monday to deny rumors he is dating Hailey, following numerous sightings of them hanging out.
Alongside a black and white pic, Justin wrote, “People are crazy. I’m super single and this is my good friend u would know otherwise.”
Shortly after his post, Hailey tweeted, “Hope that clarifies everything for everyone) rumors are silly!”
Perhaps to underline his “super single” status, hours after posting and deleting a Rihanna pic, the pop star took to Instagram late Tuesday to post a goofy pic of a Nerf gun war with Hailey and mutual pal Kendall Jenner.
“@kendalljenner why the need for two guns fool and @haileybaldwin good work today we were killin everyone. #nerfwars,” Justin captioned the shot.
As for Selena’s true emotional state about the apparent end of her romance with Justin?
In reality, only she and her nearest and dearest know that answer, whatever gossip outlets may tell you.
