‘The Interview’ Actors James Franco And Seth Rogen Cancel Press Appearances After 9/11-Style Threat By Sony Hackers
Sony Hackers have reached a new high as they have now threatened to attack movie goers who plan on going to see The Interview. Due to this, the press tour featuring the film’s actors James Franco and Seth Rogen has been cancelled.
According to Variety, Rogen and Franco were scheduled to make a slew of appearances this week to promote their film The Interview, but have decided to cancel due to the 9/11-style threats that the Guardians of Peace have made.
Appearances that have been cancelled include Rogen’s visit to Late Night with Seth Meyers, Rogen and Franco’s appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and an appearance at BuzzFeed Brews in New York.
According to sources that are on the inside of this sudden change, Franco and Rogen are still set to show up at Thursday’s screening of The Interview in New York City.
While the security breach of Sony’s files is a serious matter, this is a new level by the Sony hackers. As the Inquisitr reported, their new message reads as follows.
“We will clearly show it to you at the very time and places “The Interview” be shown, including the premiere, how bitter fate those who seek fun in terror should be doomed to.
Soon all the world will see what an awful movie Sony Pictures Entertainment has made.
The world will be full of fear.
Remember the 11th of September 2001.
We recommend you to keep yourself distant from the places at that time.
(If your house is nearby, you’d better leave.)
Whatever comes in the coming days is called by the greed of Sony Pictures Entertainment.
All the world will denounce the SONY. [sic]”
According to Deadline, Homeland Security has investigated this threat and has said that there’s no credible intelligence to support the threat.
“DHS is aware of a threat made online targeting movie theaters in the United States. We are still analyzing the credibility of these statements, but at this time there is no credible intelligence to indicate an active plot against movie theaters within the United States.”
Rep Peter King, a key member of House Homeland Security and the Intelligence Committee, said that we shouldn’t give in to these threats surrounding The Interview.
“Unless we have credible evidence we can’t be giving in to these terror threats. Otherwise they’re going to be threatening us all the time, and it would stop every major event we have in the country.”
Earlier, Seth Rogen blamed the hackers’ power on the media for reporting the various leaks that have unfolded since November.
“Everyone is doing exactly what these criminals want. It’s stolen information that media outlets are directly profiting from,” said Rogen.
