Amy Pascal Fired, Not!: Exec Won’t Resign Over Sony Email Leak, Says TMZ
Amy Pascal won’t be fired, nor will she resign, according to the latest report by TMZ. Amy Pascal being “fired” has been the hot topic of many internet and social media conversations. Though many agree that Pascal can’t be fired from Sony over the disgraceful email leaks, many had speculated that she would do “the right thing” and step down.
A source recently told The New York Post that Amy Pascal would be resigning behind the growing scandal.
“Amy will be getting fired to set an example.()Everyone is really upset because Amy is beloved and a good person.”
But this will not happen, according to TMZ‘s latest source. The source also revealed that contrary to popular opinion, Amy Pascal still has the support of many celebrities. The list of supporters supposedly includes, Tyler Perry, Jack Nicholson, John Singleton, Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie.
Amy Pascal has been in public hot water since someone leaked private emails between the Sony exec and Scott Rudin. In the embarrassing email exchanges, Pascal and Rudin joke that President Obama likes slavery movies, and that actress Angelina Jolie is a “rampaging spoiled” brat with minimal talent. In another email, Pascal referred to television as the “new black baby.”
Pascal’s defenders say that she is not racist, and that the emails are all just a big misunderstanding.
Here is a snippet of some of the hacked emails.
Pascal: “What should I ask the president at this stupid Jeffrey breakfast?”
Rudin: “Would he like to finance some movies.”
Pascal: “I doubt it. Should I ask him if he liked DJANGO?”
Rudin: “12 YEARS.”
Pascal: “Or the butler. Or think like a man?”
Rudin: “Ride-along. I bet he likes Kevin Hart.”
Despite the controversy, a lot of Sony employees and celebrities are hoping that Pascal does not lose her job over a series of private emails that should have never been leaked–some even believe the leak was an inside job. Others believe that the emails are a testament to her true character and that the weight she holds in Hollywood is too powerful for someone who makes racially charged jokes or comments.
Civil rights leader Al Sharpton had this to say, according to Daily Mail.
“If people have a culture of acting like it’s OK to joke about the President of the United States only watching black movies – this is what are were saying in 2014.()’I don’t know who’s behind the hack. I know what I’ve read about the hack. And I’m going to give her a lot of heck about the hack.”
Days ago, Inquisitr reported that Leonardo Dicaprio and Willow and Jaden Smith were also insulted in the Sony emails. Pascal has spent the last week apologizing and trying to make amends for all of the hurt feelings, stating that she feels devastated for hurting everyone.
