Kevin Hart’s press junket for his new film The Wedding Ringer has been postponed due to the Sony hacking scandal. As the Inquisitr reported , emails between Sony executives revealed Kevin Hart was being discussed. At one point, Sony Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper called the comedian a whore.
Hart, in a round about way, responded to this hack, and he wasn’t happy. The comedian took to Instagram to screencap a note he wrote.
“Knowing your self worth is extremely important people… I worked very hard to get where I am today. I look at myself as a brand and because of that I will never allow myself to be taking advantage of. [sic]”
The comedian continued, “I OWN MY BRAND… I MAKE SMART DECISIONS FOR MY BRAND… which is why I’m able to brush ignorance off of my shoulder and continue to move forward. I refuse to be broken people… with that being said it’s now time for me to get back to building this empire that I’ve always dreamed of!!!”
According to the Wrap , Hart’s new film was set for a junket this weekend in Los Angeles. It’s said that Sony Screen Gems pushed it back to a later date. The Sony reps wanted to “focus on the movie” and not the Sony hacking scandal, so this is why they chose to push back the junket. Additionally, it’s believed that Screen Gems cancelled a sit down interview with Kevin Hart.
In the original email, Culpepper wrote to Sony executive Amy Pascal after Hart wanted to be paid to tweet about his film, Think Like a Man Too .
“I’m tempted to suggest we call his bluff. If he doesn’t do his normal routine, his film will not open as well and his brand will appear diminished and he will — in fact — be f***ing himself because we have his next 2 immediate films.”
After his Instagram post, fans came to the comedian’s defense.
“What people say behind your back matters not!! @kevinhart4real now you really know what you’re dealing with!”
Another wrote, “Your an extremely talented and intelligent young Man..! Jealousy and envy will always rear its ugly head..!!”
And another stated, “Rudin and Pascal look like a bunch of closet racists. I bet they liked 12yrs of slavery, django, and the butler more than any black person ever did. @kevinhart4real Thanks for taking a stand for your beliefs and your brand. If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything!!!”
