Abused Puppy Found In Trash, Pooch Sealed In Plastic Bag May Have Been Used To Train Fighting Pit Bulls

An abused puppy found in a sealed trash bag was rescued two days before Thanksgiving, thanks to a kind passerby who discovered the animal and called animal control officers. While Karen Herrera was on a walk that Thursday morning, she came across a sealed plastic bag with something very disturbing trapped inside. A sick and injured puppy had been stuffed in a sack and discarded like garbage, according to a People report. The animal was suffering from mange. It also had multiple bite marks on its tiny body, and it was bleeding.

While Herrera and the abused puppy she found in a sealed trash bag waited for animal control officers, another concerned animal lover stopped to help, wrapping the dog in a blanket. The Fontana, California, animal control officers who responded to the scene transported the friendly little abandoned pooch to General Dog and Cat Hospital and San Bernardino. The dog, which has been dubbed Gladys, was in serious condition and desperately needed medical care.

According to a KTLA report, an animal expert believes that Gladys may have been used to train fighting pit bulls, which could account for the numerous bite marks on the abused puppy’s body.

Despite a painful case of mange and obvious signs of abuse, Gladys has been described by Sunshine Haven Animal Rescue as “a very gentle soul who deserves all the love she can get.” While living in the animal rescue’s foster program, the abused dog will receive all necessary medical care and be showered with love and attention in preparation for a new forever home.

The sad story of the abused puppy found in a sealed trash bag comes just days after a report that a good Samaritan had found eight squirming puppies in a discarded dog food bag left abandoned on the side of a Texas highway. Beloved children’s poem A Visit from St. Nicholas, commonly known as ‘Twas the night before Christmas, served as the inspiration for the names given to the puppies, reported the Inquisitr. It was the 1823 publication of the rhymed tale in the Troy Sentinel that first identified Santa’s reindeer by name. Anyone who is familiar with the story of Santa Claus and his eight tiny reindeer will already know the names given to the pups: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen.

Gladys, the abused puppy found in a sealed trash bag just before Thanksgiving, should be ready for adoption in six weeks.
