UFC: CM Punk Vs. Joe Rogan Impossible Due To Drugs? Jose Canseco Wants A MMA Fight
Apparently, the line for a CM Punk UFC match starts now. Any MMA fighter wanting to take on the former WWE superstar better take a ticket because it seems practically everyone wants to jump into the octagon with CM Punk. But at least now we know of one match that’s impossible.
In a related report by the Inquisitr, not everyone is so sure about UFC signing up CM Punk. For example, TNA announcer Taz claims Vince McMahon secretly set up the whole thing as some sort of devious trap. There may be something to that idea since CM Punk quasi-promoted the WWE by claiming that professional wrestling is more dangerous than MMA fighting.
UFC fighter Cathal Pendred is already claiming he will be CM Punk’s first fight in the UFC in 2015, although Chael Sonnen claims he knows better. But for some odd reason, fans believe that CM Punk should take on UFC commentator Joe Rogan.
Over on Twitter, user Joe Lauzon asked, “Can we please see Joe Rogan welcome CM Punk to the UFC and be his first opponent?” In response, Rogan cracked a joke on why that would never happen.
“I would break that drug test like a hammer hitting a carnival bell in a Bugs Bunny cartoon.”
Well, at least he’s honest. It’s possible some fans were jokingly making the suggestion, although both men have a 0-0 MMA record so at least there’s no prior expectations going into the octagon. But many of the challengers border on the ridiculous. For example, the green Power Ranger Jason David Frank wants to take on CM Punk, which sounds funny until you consider that Frank has four MMA fights by either TKO or submission.
Another interesting challenge comes from former Major League Baseball All-Star Jose Canseco.
I can beat the crap out of @cmpunk. I am ready @ufc
— Jose Canseco (@JoseCanseco) December 12, 2014
Jose Canseco is actually being somewhat serious since he fought against Hong-man Choi back in 2009. Although Conseco lost his first MMA fight in the first round by submission, he at least has a MMA record, unlike CM Punk. Phil Brooks even recently admitted that he’s still a novice at Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and has never done any real MMA sparring despite training with the Gracie gym for over four years.
It’s facts like these that seem to have Seth Rollins uncertain about how CM Punk would do in the UFC.
“Punk is a goal oriented kind of guy and he’s very driven, very focused, very passionate about what he puts his mind to and if he’s in love with something he’ll go after it 100 percent. He’s never had any experience from what I understand in an octagon, I know that’s not going to sit too pretty with too many of the UFC fighters who have really worked their butts off to earn those contracts but Punk is a draw and he will prove that I promise you that when he fights people will pay to see it. As far as how well he’s going to fair, I can’t make any predictions. I’m not one to doubt the guy, he may pull through but he also may end in some sort of chokehold that he regrets. Either way, I’m going to pay to see it and I think that’s the whole point.”
Who would you like to see CM Punk fight in the UFC?
