‘Game of Thrones’ Season 5: Sansa Faces New Trauma, Story Becomes Darker
Sophie Turner, the actress behind Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones, spoke a bit about the upcoming Season 5 and one particular scene that was “super, super traumatic” for her character. With the TV version of Sansa Stark pretty much caught up with the events in George R.R. Martin’s book, what happens to her in Season 5 is anyone’s guess.
Sophie Turner was on the red carpet at the 2014 British Independent Film Awards when interviewers from the YouTube channel HeyUGuys caught her for a few questions. They asked her about her favorite scene that she had to shoot, which was for Game of Thrones, Season 5.
Naturally, the actress couldn’t give much away, but there was still one tidbit she could discuss.
“There was one scene that I did do that was super, super traumatic and I love doing those scenes. It was just really kind of horrible for everyone to be on set, but those scenes are just kind of what feed me, that’s why I started out, to do all the crappy, horrible stuff.”
Now it’s up to hardcore Game of Thrones fans to speculate on what traumatic incident happens to the already sad storyline for Sansa. By the end of Season 4, Sansa Stark, the naïve teenager, had blossomed into a grown woman, leaving behind the colorful dresses for dark, Gothic apparel, complete with black feathers sewn in.
Despite her new tough appearance, Vanity Fair speculates that Sansa might be the victim of another tragedy, perhaps a sexual assault. But that might be too predictable, after all — Sansa has been through quite a bit already.
In any case, Sophie Turner is certainly lucky to be at home with the “horrible” scenes, even if everyone else on set hasn’t adjusted yet.
Other players have had to leave their comfort zone for Game of Thrones. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Natalie Dormer hit her limit with one particular love scene and had to have it changed.
HeyUGuys had one more interesting Game of Thrones question: is Season 5 going in a different direction? To which Turner replied, it’s going to be darker, if that’s even possible.
“I think it definitely goes in a darker direction for sure. I mean, some people’s character lines, character arcs, are blowing my mind, this season, like absolutely killing it. Arya’s storyline is incredible. But it gets a lot lot darker, if Game of Thrones can get darker.”
So Sansa is facing more trauma and Game of Thrones is somehow actually getting darker. The newest season may really be something to look forward to.
