‘RHOA’ Star Cynthia Bailey Calls Out NeNe Leakes’ Domestic Abuse Comments

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey has been trying to move on from her former friend, NeNe Leakes, as the two stopped talking after the previous reunion show. At the time, Bailey said that she would not attempt to fix the friendship, and would prefer to just leave things the way they were.

But it appears that Cynthia Bailey has been surprised at Leakes’ constant attempts to slam her in the media. While she thought that there may be some mutual respect there, Leakes decided to go after Cynthia in the media, saying various things about her Real Housewives of Atlanta co-star.

According to a new Bravo report, The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey is now revealing that she thinks it is odd that Leakes would compare her marriage to that of Ike and Tina Turner, especially considering the domestic abuse element.

“I know that the ‘Anna Mae’ reference from NeNe was meant to be offensive and disrespectful, however I was actually flattered to be compared to one of the world’s most popular entertainers, the queen of rock and roll herself Anna Mae Bullock AKA Tina Turner,” Cynthia Bailey explains of NeNe comment, where she hinted that Peter Thomas was controlling his wife.

While NeNe was trying to slam her former best friend and her husband, Leakes actually poked fun at domestic violence. It may not have been her motive to do so, but her former friend picked up on that fact. On a previous season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, NeNe revealed that she herself had been a victim of domestic abuse, so Cynthia thinks it is odd that she would make such a comparison.

“I hope this was not a failed attempt to make fun of the fact that at one point in Ms. Turner’s largely successful career and life she was a victim of domestic abuse. All jokes aside, wasn’t NeNe herself a victim of domestic abuse as well?” Cynthia points out.

According to the Inquisitr, Bailey’s husband has said that he has no interest in controlling his wife. He just wants her to be happy. Even new housewife Claudia Jordan has picked up on the relationship between Bailey and her former friend. And Jordan believes that Cynthia Bailey is just battered from the friendship.

“I told her from what I can see — she’s basically like a battered wife emotionally when it comes to Nene so now that she is no longer emotionally tied to CARING about nenes feelings she can really GO IN and say what she’s been thinking all along,” Claudia has revealed about her co-star.
