Amber Alert For Four Missing Boys In Montebello, Calif. After Body Found In Trunk [Video]

An Amber Alert has been issued for four missing boys in Montebello, California after a body was discovered inside the trunk of one of the family’s vehicles on Wednesday night, as reported by LA Times.

The children, along with their parents, father Daniel Perez, 43, his wife, Erica Perez, 39, have all been missing since Saturday, and a report was filed on Wednesday.

The boys ranging in ages 6 to 11 have not been at school all week, nor has the father been at work as reported by ABC 7 News.

A relative was the last to see Daniel and the boys on Saturday night when Daniel picked up the boys from the relative’s home. That family member told police that Erica was not with him when Daniel picked up the children.

The family car, a black 2010 Honda Accord, was found near a hospital about a half-mile from the family’s home around 5 p.m. Wednesday, as reported by Huffington Post. Capt. Luis Lopez of the Montebello Police Department held a news conference later that night but would not reveal the identity or the cause of death of the woman found in the trunk, although it is suspected the body is that of the boys’ mother, Erica.

Lopez did report that the father, Daniel Perez is considered a person of interest and the police are looking for him now. The main concern of the police is the safe return of the children. Huffington Post reports that Lopez finds the situation “alarming.”

“We are concerned for their safety.”

Huffington Post reports, investigators have been trying to track the family through telephone and credit card use. By 6 p.m., investigators said they detected a ping on one of the phones, but they would not say if that indicated someone was using the device, or if they simply turned it on.”

Family members told investigators the couple’s marriage was unstable and there was a history of domestic violence. They are so concerned, in fact, that the boys’ aunt Pamela Valdez made a public plea as reported by LA Times.

“Please Daniel, please just drop the kids off. They are innocent.”

Although the family claims Daniel has been despondent, one family member said she was confident that the children were not in danger with their father.

“I know he wouldn’t hurt his children, he loves his children. His children mean everything to him. We’re just worried.”

The police are now searching for a 2014 black four-door Toyota Camry with California license number 7FDS891.

Daniel Perez is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Erica Perez is 5 feet 3 inches tall, 110 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

The children are Jordan, 11, Alex, 6, Jaiden, 9, and Tristan 8.
