Samsung Galaxy S6 Rumored Release Date Includes Bigger Screen And Better Camera

The Samsung Galaxy smartphone series will have another addition with Samsung’s debut of their latest flagship model, the Samsung Galaxy S6, within the next couple months, followed by a launch this spring. Leaks of the specifications have been slowly coming in and the other day, specifications of Samsung’s new flagship android phone were found in AnTuTu.

In a related report by the Inquisitr, a Samsung Galaxy smartphone exploded, causing a small fire in a Canadian home. Also, the rumor is Samsung may produce the iPhone 7’s CPU in Apple’s future phone.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Date and Price

Samsung announced the Galaxy S5 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona last year, and as Samsung did not have a very good 2014 with its phone sales, it is highly likely the Galaxy S6 debut will happen again at the MWC in early March 2015.

The launch should follow quickly behind in April and, based on this year’s model, the new smartphone will start at $200 with a contract and sell for around $650 unlocked.

Galaxy S6 Specification Leak

Samsung Galaxy S6 Specifications leak on AnTuTu

Chinese website CNMO has discovered the specifications for Samsung’s rumored Galaxy S6 buried within the popular benchmarking tool AnTuTu, according to 9to5Google.

AnTuTu is an app that measures the performance of various aspects of Android mobile devices, including processor power and speed.

The new leak also provides more evidence that Samsung will increase the size and improve the resolution of its Galaxy flagship’s screen. According to the screenshot, we can expect the Galaxy S6 to have a 5.5-inch screen with a 2560 x 1440 resolution. That would make the Galaxy S6 just as large as the iPhone 6 Plus and Galaxy Note 2.

Because there has been two separate specification leaks showing different cameras, we could see a 16-megapixel camera or a 20-megapixel camera on the S6; the leaked AnTuTu benchmark suggests Samsung is more likely to include the 20-megapixel sensor. The company’s current Galaxy S5 smartphone comes with a 16-megapixel camera.

“Project Zero,” New Metal Design

Samsung Galaxy Alpha could be the design test for the S6.

As Samsung’s development of the Galaxy S6 was codenamed “Project Zero,” to build the new phone from scratch, in an effort to make it the best Galaxy S flagship we’ve seen yet, reported SamMobile.

Because of this, we can expect that this upcoming phone might be a complete departure from the plastic Galaxy devices of yesteryear, with the new metal design that the Korean company released on the Galaxy Alpha this year. The Alpha could be the live design test for the S6. That’s purely speculation at this point and could change, as with any leaked information until confirmed by Samsung.

The change in design style could also include one, or even two, curved display edges.

Samsung Galaxy S6 could feature the curved display of the Galaxy Edge.

According to ZDNet, the smartphone could be available in an Edge variant, which would mimic the single-edge curved display and second screen functionality of Samsung’s Galaxy Note Edge. A separate PhoneArena report suggests Samsung could take things even further, with a flexible display that’s curved on both edges.

Curved or not, it looks like the the Galaxy S6 will sport a 5.5-inch, 2560 x 1440 quad HD display and have a 20 megapixel camera.
