WWE News: After CM Punk’s UFC Announcement, WWE Diva AJ Lee Could Be Leaving After The TLC PPV
Could WWE Diva AJ Lee be leaving WWE soon? The rumor, also claimed at this exact time last month, could be more believable now than ever before. As we know by now, AJ Lee is married to former WWE Superstar CM Punk. The two were married over the summer. CM Punk actually ended up getting his termination papers from WWE on his wedding day, something many find quite low. AJ has been with WWE despite this, to the surprise of many.
AJ Lee was rumored to drop the WWE Diva’s Title last month to Nikki Bella at WWE Survivor Series, then leave right after. She did end up dropping the title but was on WWE RAW the following night. This time around, her departure could be coming. Her speech from the Slammy Awards version of WWE RAW was quite telling. She said that she hoped certain people would win the Diva of the Year award next year. She then followed up with saying she was not ready to stop being Queen yet.
Many wonder, why would she say she hopes others win an award when she would want to next year? Sure, she followed up with saying she was not ready to stop yet. However, why would one line such as this be thrown in?
Many feel that due to her husband CM Punk signing with the UFC, she will soon leave WWE to be with him. The two have been apart quite a lot since Punk left WWE. He has been busy with other projects, but obviously the newlyweds wouldn’t want to spend a lot of time away.
According to PWInsider, it has not been confirmed that AJ was leaving WWE just yet. However, it is quite the talk backstage. It could be assumed it was a hot topic due to CM Punk’s UFC announcement. Obviously, people would wonder about her status with WWE, despite her still being there weekly.
Many could be assuming that she would be leaving now that Punk is back in the public eye and in another contract. Punk was already well off money wise — more than enough for AJ to leave WWE and be with him. She has also made a lot of money on her own. That being said, both Punk and AJ do not need the WWE anymore.
AJ stuck around potentially because she felt she owed it to the fans and WWE. Who knows? It is said that her current contract ends at some point next year. We can assume she’ll leave then. The issue is, it is uncertain when her current deal expires. One would imagine that she’d want to finish up after WrestleMania 31, however, as it would be assumed that WWE’s top Diva would be featured on the show. However, that is another few months away, so she may not wish to participate.
