‘Rizzoli And Isles’ Renewed: Season 6 A Go For Angie Harmon, Sasha Alexander Show
There is good news out for Rizzoli & Isles renewal watchers as another season is on the way. Though viewers are anxiously waiting for Season 5 to resume on TNT, now viewers can rest assured knowing that there is already a sixth season in the works as well. Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander will be back for more new episodes.
News that Rizzoli & Isles was renewed came via Deadline. Given the strong ratings the Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander show provides for TNT, a Season 6 pickup doesn’t come as a huge shocker. However, the network did renew other shows ahead of this one, so the new season confirmation does come as a big relief.
Season 6 of Rizzoli & Isles will begin during the summer of 2015. As the show’s Facebook page notes, fans will be treated to 18 episodes. It seems quite likely that the season will be split in half in terms of airing, as has been the norm with this TNT hit lately.
The Harmon and Alexander staple was the most watched basic cable show last summer, so fans felt fairly confident it would be back for Season 6. However, reports indicate that the negotiations were a bit tricky, due to issues regarding license fees and the length of the pickup. There is some talk that there may have been some discussions regarding a two-season renewal rather than solely Season 6 on its own, though ultimately that’s what the network ordered.
Other TNT shows renewed include Falling Skies, Major Crimes, and new shows like Legends, Murder In the First, and The Last Ship. The next season will be the last for Falling Skies, however. In addition, Perception, Dallas, and Franklin & Bash have all recently been canceled by the network.
Season 5 of Rizzoli & Isles picks up again with new episodes beginning on Tuesday, February 17. Fans are always quite vocal about their distaste for the long break in the middle of each season, but it seems likely that TNT will continue that approach.
What can fans expect to see transpire during Season 6 of the show featuring Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander? There have been many twists and turns along the way and it seems that the network is angling to bring back more of what fans already love in the episodes to come. The show airs on TNT on Tuesday nights again come February, and news of the Rizzoli & Isles renewal means that Season 6 will debut next summer.
