A General Hospital actress has wrapped her stint on the show and fans are disappointed to see her leave. Kelly Thiebaud, who played Dr. Britt Westbourne, took to Instagram after her last scene aired to say goodbye to fans.
Thiebaud wrote that it has been hard to read everybody’s tweets and not respond, but she wanted to wait until her last episode aired before she said her goodbyes. Kelly shares that General Hospital has been a fun and challenging adventure and that it went by too fast.
The GH actress adds that she chose not to re-sign her contract because she wanted to pursue roles in primetime television and movies. She says that one has to follow their dreams and she thanks everybody for their love and support. The post is signed “Britch,” and within hours thousands had liked the post. Many were quite moved by her last scene on Monday’s episode.
As Soap Central notes, the door has been left open should Thiebaud want to head back to Port Charles as Britt. At least for now, though, Nikolas is back on his own once again.
What will Thiebaud tackle next? There have been rumors floating around that she will head to The Bold and the Beautiful. The soap has recast the role of Steffy Forrester, which many thought would be a fit for Kelly, and the role of Hope Logan is in need of a new actress as well.
Despite the buzz, ABC Soaps in Depth notes that a CBS spokesperson recently said there was no truth to the rumors that Thiebaud would take over the role of Steffy. Indeed, now it is known that a different actress will be in that role. Could she play Hope though?
These days fans take network casting denials with a grain of salt. General Hospital snatched up both Michelle Stafford and Billy Miller for roles they’d been rumored for though the show denied the moves. There has been a lot of movement among the soaps this past year in terms of cast members jumping from one soap to another, so if Thiebaud were to head to another soap it wouldn’t come as a complete shock.
It has been revealed that Jacqueline MaInnes Wood will play the role of Steffy, but what about Hope? Executive producer Bradley Bell has just confirmed that the show will recast Hope rather than write the character off the show, notes Celeb Dirty Laundry . Kim Matula’s last air date in the role of Hope is slated to air on Friday, December 12, so who will take over the role? For now, there is no official news in that regard.
Thiebaud says she’s aiming to tackle primetime and movie work, but some fans still believe that she may have been enticed by an offer at Bold and Beautiful that was too good to pass up. Will Kelly Thiebaud take over that role and give fans an immediate chance to follow her work? Many believe that despite the network denials, that’s exactly what is going to happen.
For now, General Hospital fans will have to keep an eye on Kelly Thiebaud’s social media pages to see what she shares in terms of new projects. As for Kim Matula’s replacement, Bell is keeping details under wraps, and fans will learn more on Friday regarding Hope’s immediate future.
