Director Peter Jackson Honored With Star In Hollywood’s ‘Walk Of Fame’ [Photos]
Just prior to the release of the last Middle-Earth film, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, director Peter Jackson was honored with a star in the Hollywood “Walk of Fame” on Monday. Hundreds of fans flocked to watch the proceedings, which were also attended by some of the stars featured in the epic trilogy.
Jackson is, of course, responsible for bringing to life The Lord of the Rings trilogy, which is the sequel to The Hobbit. As fans of the original books know, both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit were written by J.R.R. Tolkien. Joining P.J. — as the Kiwi is affectionately called — where not only his family, but several of the actors cast in the blockbusters.
Among the group celebrating with Jackson was Andy Serkis — who played Gollum in Lord of the Rings and reprised the role for The Hobbit — and delivered the dedication speech. Also present were Evangeline Lilly (Tauriel), Richard Armitage (Thorin), Lee Pace (Thranduil), Elijah Woods (Frodo Baggins), and Orlando Bloom (Legolas).
The main cast and crew of The Battle of the Five Armies is currently trotting the globe attending various world premieres as the film rolls out in different territories One Last Time. Noticeably absent was Luke Evans (Bard the Bowman), who was scheduled to attend, but was a no show. Inquiries to his agency, Shelter PR, didn’t shed any light on the reason why the Welsh actor missed the proceedings.

Peter Jackson became an instant sensation in the cinematographic world when he undertook The Lord of the Rings as director, producer, and writer, for which he won three-Oscars after being a mostly obscure director in his native New Zealand. His journey began in 1987 with a sci-fi title that only true fans have ever heard of, Bad Taste.
“You really are one of the greatest filmmakers on the planet,” Andy Serkis told the Peter Jackson in a short speech before he received his star on the famous Walk of Fame. The ceremony took place in front of the iconic Dolby Theater.
