‘The Flash’ Midseason Finale Spoilers: The Reverse Flash And ‘A Relationship Cliffhanger’ For Barry And Iris
There is a lot coming up in this week’s midseason finale of The Flash, “The Man in the Yellow Suit.” First up, there’s the matter of the Man in the Yellow Suit, the Reverse Flash, and Den of Geek has posted the photos and trailer for the big episode.
The promo for The Flash midseason finale, which you can watch below, begins with Barry as a kid with his mother telling him he’s not afraid of the dark; he’s afraid of being alone in the dark. After that, it is pretty much all about the Reverse Flash, as at a crime scene, Barry and Joe find out that the witnesses saw a blur, and that blur looked like a man in a yellow suit. Barry tells his father he found the man who killed his mother, but his dad is more concerned about him staying safe and warns him that the killer has taken enough from them. Still, Barry is going to chase the Reverse Flash, and it looks like they’re going to have an epic confrontation.
Den of Geek also notes that Amanda Pays is returning to the Flash universe. She played Tina McGee, “the scientific expert, confidante and love interest for Barry Allen” back in the original series, and that’s who she’s playing in the new one as well. The official synopsis reveals that Dr. Wells and Cisco turn to her for help.
“BARRY COMES FACE-TO-FACE WITH THE MAN IN THE YELLOW SUIT/AMANDA PAYS RETURNS TO THE FLASH — Barry (Grant Gustin) finds himself face-to-face with his nemesis, the man in the yellow suit, a.k.a. Reverse Flash, who killed his mother. Barry is frustrated when the Reverse Flash escapes, but Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) come up with a plan to trap him. All they need is bait, so they turn to Dr. Tina McGee (guest star Amanda Pays) from Mercury Labs to help. Meanwhile, it’s Christmas at The West household and Iris (Candice Patton) is in full holiday cheer. Eddie (Rick Cosnett) gives her a surprising gift but also leaves her with a question that could change her life. Joe (Jesse L. Martin) joins the search for the man in yellow and ends up in the crossfire. Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) finds Ronnie (Robbie Amell).”
That’s not all that’s coming up in episode 109. Series star Grant Gustin has told Entertainment Weekly that there’s something big coming up for Barry and Iris.
“There’s a relationship cliffhanger as far as Barry and Iris are concerned. Some honesty is finally being shed on the situation.”
Possibly along those same lines, ET Online reports that Grant Gustin has teased that Barry is going to tell his best friend something soon.
“Barry is going to be honest in the near future about some things. I won’t say what that is exactly, but something very big.”
