Russian Nuclear Navy Rushes To Beat U.S. Navy, China Predicted To Be Larger By 2020

Russia’s nuclear powered navy is being modernized by an initiative driven by Vladimir Putin, and it is believed they will be able to produce a full fleet of next generation carriers, surface ships, and submarines by 2050. Meanwhile, China’s navy is already on track for beating out the U.S. Navy in numbers within six years.

In a related report by the Inquisitr, a new Russian nuclear submarine is ready to launch, and it’s armed with 12 nuclear Bulava missiles. A pro-Russian newspaper is claiming that Flight MH17 was shot down in an attempt to assassinate Vladimir Putin, an idea that has been publicly suggested by former U.S. government officials.

According to Russia’s parliamentary newspaper Rossiiskaya Gazeta, the Russian navy is proposing to introduce over 600 new warships by the year 2050. Russia’s Defense Ministry has already approved the technical design specifications for warships being developed at the Krylov State Research Center in St. Petersburg.

In order to combat the U.S. Aegis ballistic missile systems, the new Leader class destroyers will be equipped with a Caliber high-precision cruise missile system, a S-500 Prometey antiaircraft defense system, a Redut-Poliment anti-ship weapons system, and Pantsir-M and Palash antiaircraft artillery. The Russian nuclear navy will also have an additional gas turbine propulsion power plant that will allow the destroyers to travel at 30 knots. The Russian warships will also be equipped with two helicopters and a new sonar system intended to combat enemy submarines.

According to the Stars And Stripes, China’s navy will be expanding greatly since their military budget has grown by double-digit percentages each year. The U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission projected that the Chinese navy could boast up to 351 vessels by the year 2020. China recently launched its first aircraft carrier, and they plan on unveiling new designs for jets, destroyers, and amphibious assault vessels.

“Given China’s growing navy and the U.S. Navy’s planned decline in the size of its fleet, the balance of power and presence in the region is shifting in China’s direction,” the commission reports.

If these predictions come true, this would mean China would outnumber the U.S. Navy, which has suffered from military budget cutbacks due to the federal budget crisis. At the same time, it’s claimed that the United States will retain a technological advantage. U.S. aircraft carriers currently number 10 and three more next generation supercarriers are currently being built.
