WWE News: Former WWE Superstar Dave Batista Confirmed For New James Bond Film

Former WWE Champion Dave Batista has started to get major offers from Hollywood after his massive role in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy . Batista played his part of Drax well, and Hollywood took notice of his skills. According to Figure Four Daily , he is now officially set to star in the new James Bond film, Spectre .

Dave stars alongside Naomie Harris, Monica Bellucci, Ralph Fiennes, and Christoph Walz. Of course, Daniel Craig will be returning to play Bond as well. Batista is set to play Mr. Hinx, a major bad guy in the film.

Dave is also set to star in the remake of Kickboxer , which former Kickboxer star Jean-Claude Van Damme will also be appearing in. Both films are set for a potential 2015 release.

Bond is set to be released in November of 2015. So what does this mean about Batista’s WWE career? Most likely, he is done for a while. He had an ability to stay with the company after his summer run of promotion for Guardians , but seemingly declined when things were not going his way before he left. He was promised many things, which did not come to pass. He did end up in a WrestleMania main event, which was a big deal for any former or current WWE talent. However, he was promised the WWE World Title, among other things. Plans change, but Dave didn’t get hardly anything he was promised when he signed on.

Despite this, Batista ended up staying and facing off with The Shield as a member of the reformed Evolution group up until around June. Sadly, “The Animal” didn’t appear to like his last run, so he left and never came back. We could always see him down the line, however, due to his success in Hollywood, he might be done for good. His performance as Drax was good enough to land him in a future Avengers film as well as Guardians of the Galaxy 2 .

The fact that he has now landed a marquee role in a James Bond film is huge for him as well. The last Bond film, Skyfall , ended up doing over a billion worldwide in box office numbers. This looks like two blockbusters in two different years that will star Dave. Clearly, his stardom is only increasing. It would be dumb for him to go back to WWE if he can continue to land these big roles. Due to his schedule, we know he’s done for a while, but if he never comes back, we can understand why for sure.

He will be working for Disney in the Marvel movies in 2016 most likely, or mid-2015. If Bond is set to be released in November of next year, he’d have to start to work on the film by early 2015. That said, Batista and WWE will not have a 2015 relationship most likely, and maybe not in 2016 either.
