‘Bond 24’ Title Revealed As ‘Spectre’: Will It Be A Remake Of A Previous Bond Film?
The official Bond 24 title has been revealed as Spectre. While the name might seem unassuming and possibly spooky to those who have yet to see the original Bond films, veteran film lovers will know what the name really refers to.
SPECTRE was the name of the terrorist organization which haunted James Bond’s career in several movies, including Thunderball, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, From Russia with Love, and three others. The man at the top of Spectre is Ernst Stavro Blofeld, a villain who has gone on to become among the most iconic bad guys of all time.
Blofeld was the bald, cat stroking mastermind who later inspired the main nemesis in the parody series featuring Mike Myers’ Austin Powers.
The announcement of the Bond 24 title comes shortly after the announcement that Sherlock’s Christoph Waltz might be playing the infamous villain in charge of Spectre, Blofeld. We have no official confirmation of this, though it would make sense to have Blofeld as the main villain.
Blofeld wasn’t seen in the series until the second film, From Russia with Love, so it might ring familiar that he shows up in the fourth film in the reboot series with Daniel Craig. This leads us to the question of whether Spectre will be a remake of From Russia with Love or a later classic.
Could Sam Mendes be attempting something similar to what J.J. Abrams did with Star Trek Into Darkness? Series veterans might not like having their iconic film history tampered with if Spectre is going to be a remake. Star Trek Into Darkness wasn’t a direct copy, but it did rewrite Wrath of Khan.
The idea of Spectre being a remake of a classic would certainly be risky, and the Bond 24 title doesn’t directly refer to any of Ian Flemming’s novels.
Being the follow-up to Skyfall, Daniel Craig’s next run as James Bond has a lot to aim for.

As always, the upcoming Bond film will take place in such exotic locales as Rome, London, Mexico City, the Austrian Alps, and Morocco. The films are known to take place exactly where they’re filmed, possibly meaning that Spectre could also be a loose remake of Thunderball.
With the Bond 24 title of Spectre, it sounds like Sam Mendes could be getting ready to rewrite some of the classics. The announced Bond 24 plot has also been revealed.
“A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister [organization]. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind Spectre.”
Do you think Spectre could be a risky remake or an entirely original adventure possibly paying homage to the classics?
