Filipino Basketball Player’s Crazy Haircut Releases His ‘Inner Lizard!’ [Image]
For many people who love to watch and participate in sports — either recreationally or in the pursuit of something more professional — there is at least one athlete they consider to be an inspiration or an idol. Some of these athletes are so admired, the simplest or most mundane update seems to be monumental news. The Inquisitr provided a prime example when fans of Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova lost their minds when she posted up a fake picture of herself with short hair.
In the Philippines, one of the most recognized basketball players for the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is Rogemar “Ogie” Menor. However, Ogie is not recognized worldwide for his basketball skills but his haircut, which looks like a lizard.
According to an article by GMA and followed up by the Bleacher Report, Ogie Menor is playing for the Blackwater Elite for the 2014-15 season. For most of Ogie’s career, he sported a mohawk to games. However, Ogie dared to do something different as of late.
As you can see above, Ogie Menor decided to design his mohawk into an animal: a “butiki” or lizard. The butiki haircut was first introduced at the Blackwater Elite game versus Purefoods. It should however be reported that people thought Ogie Menor was sporting an iguana — he clarified that it was a lizard at the game also.
As to why Ogie Menor is just starting to experiment with his hair, he stated that during his time playing for the Air 21 franchise for three seasons, he never really got the chance to experiment. Now a part of Blackwater Elite, Ogie gets to finally test out new designs and styles at True Cut barbershop depending on what the stylist wants. Most likely, the relationship between Ogie and the stylists of the barbershop located in Timog is well-established given the fact that Ogie has been a loyal customer for them for some time now along with fellow PBA player Paolo Hubalde, of Barako Bull.
Now that you’ve seen the pictures of Ogie Menor’s “butiki haircut,” what do you think about it? Do you find it pretty cool, weird, or stupid? No matter what your view may be, it can be easily said that the haircut is unique.
