Selena Gomez Officially Signs Deal With Interscope Records, Calls It A ‘Dream’
From rehab and the ending of her on-and-off romance with Justin Bieber to a brand new record deal, Selena Gomez has had a helluva 2014.
The 22-year-old has officially signed a contract with Interscope Records, after wrapping up seven years at Disney’s Hollywood Records with the release of her Greatest Hits compilation album For You, and lead single “The Heart Wants What It Wants” last month.
While in New York City over the weekend for the 25th birthday of close pal Taylor Swift, Selena posted a cute pic on her Instagram to mark her proud moment.
The snap shows the starlet sitting at a dinner table with others, with what appears to be a contract in front of her and with a pen in her mouth. Her caption read,
“Guess who’s officially an Interscope artist #thisiswhatdreamsaremadeof.”
As the Inquisitr previously reported, the brunette beauty went straight back into the studio after Thanksgiving to work on her new album.
Through Instagram messages, she revealed she is collaborating with Dreamlab and the Los Angeles producer/DJ, Ruffian. Also, Zedd, the Russian-German producer/songwriter who is also signed to Interscope. The starlet is also working with Norway’s Stargate team.
Before Selena’s standout performance of “Heart” at the 2014 American Music Awards, she talked to radio interviewers at a pre-AMAs event about the direction of her new album.
Speaking to Gillian and HaZe with 98.7 Amp Detroit, the pop princess said,
“It’s exciting for me to start off with something like the ‘Heart.'” She added, “And then start leading into writing about all the other things that are going on in my life and have gone on in the past year or so.”
Selena went on, “I’m excited to put more of my heart and soul into the next chapter of [my] music.”
The starlet recently expressed her support for Justin – who is the muse behind “The Heart Wants What It Wants” — in an interview with Norway’s NRJ radio, during which she said she has “so much love and respect for him.”
On Friday, the actress-singer released a five-minute, digital video titled “My AMA Diary.”
It traces her journey from rehearsals, to the red carpet, before her stage performance and aftermath.
Meanwhile, during her New York stay, Selena had fun with the rest of the revelers at the Jingle Ball in Madison Square Garden on Friday to support Taylor as she turned 25.
After the 1989 singer’s performance, she joined a host of stars including Beyonce, Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, Sam Smith, model Karlie Kloss, the group HAIM, Nick Jonas and more, at a party at Swift’s Tribeca apartment to celebrate.
According to reports, over 20 boxes of pizza were delivered for the guests. Selena was seen shielding her eyes from paps as she arrived wearing a burgundy top, black leggings and leather boots.
Taylor later tweeted Instagram pics of her star-studded bash.
“So this is being 25….. #WHAT #bestbirthdayEVER,” the leggy singer wrote on one pic.
On another, the birthday girl noted, “When you’re making a wish, but you already have all you really need standing around you.”
With her Interscope deal now signed, sealed and delivered, Selena ends 2014 a single lady — and on a high note.
