Selena Gomez is on lockdown in the studio for the next four months after a Thanksgiving break with her family, the starlet revealed Monday night.
The 22-year-old actress-singer posted a pic of herself up close to a microphone, with the caption,
“What the next 4 months will look like — Even in my hotel rooms. You guys, I’m beyond excited for what’s next. #2015.”
As Gomez’s fans will doubtless know, the Latina revealed she would be hitting the studio around this time in recent radio interviews.
Fans of Gomez will be eagerly awaiting their idol’s new era of albums, movies and a television series collaboration between the starlet, her mother’s production company Kicked To The Curb and Trigger Street Productions — which is co-owned and founded by the actor Kevin Spacey.
But, for now, it’s the music part of the Disney alum’s career that is getting attention. And small wonder.
After first setting the Internet and everyone else on fire last month, when she dropped the Justin Bieber-inspired single “The Heart Wants What It Wants” and its music video, praise has continued to flow after Selena’s emotional, dramatic rendition of the breakup anthem at the 2014 American Music Awards.
Since then, the single hit No. 6 on Billboard’s Digital Song chart, No. 20 on their Hot 100 chart, and reached No. 2 on the iTunes one day after her AMA’s spot, proving the power of appearing on an millions-reaching awards ceremony to touch the hearts of the buying public.
Now that Selena’s seven-year-term with Hollywood Records ended with her Greatest Hits For You LP, the next chapter of her recording journey lies with Interscope Records . In pre-AMAs interviews, the starlet revealed her musical direction from this point on, would take the Rock Mafia “Heart” single as a “bookmark” or reference point.
Speaking to Gillian and HaZe with 98.7 Amp Detroit, she explained how psyched she was about her next album out of all her projects.
Elaborating, Selena said, “It’s exciting for me to start off with something like the ‘Heart’ and then start leading into writing about all the other things that are going on in my life — and have gone on in the past year or so.”
“I’m excited to put more of my heart and soul into the next chapter of music,” she added.
So, apart from more personalized music from the former Wizards of Waverly Place star, what else can we expect from Selena’s new album?
Well, not too long ago, the starlet posted a snap of herself and the fantastically talented “Chandeliers” singer/writer, Sia. The two girls are friends, and in addition to Sia confirming she has worked on songs with SelGo, the pop princess’— caption read, “Sia bia #2015.”
With Sia’s back catalog needing no exaggeration and Selena clearly up for exploring her inner life creatively, this is a musical pairing to anticipate.
Also of interest, is an Instagram post by Australian music producer Daniel James, one half of the Dreamlab producing and songwriting team with Leah Haywood.
The upload was tagged to Selena, Leah and Los Angeles producer mixer Ruffian, which suggests an eclectic/pop sound could make its way onto her Interscope album.
His caption read, “Neck level two weeks in studio w fave @selenagomez starts now with team @leahhaywood @robellmore #chinesefood #freebottledwater #blessed (sic).”
In other Selena news, after hanging out with model Gigi Hadid at the weekend, the starlet and some gal pals threw an impromptu send-off for Julian Stirling, who co-manages Cody Simpson — the duets partner of Justin .
“Our bestest guy friend in the world is leaving us for a month. @justinstirling,” she wrote.
But, with studio life on Selena’s horizon for the next four months, time will fly by.
