Adriana Lima Trains Like A Victoria’s Secret Angel With Boxing And Paleo Low-Carb Diet [Video]
With her sleek physique and perfect posture, Adriana Lima has become one of the world’s most famous supermodels. Now she’s sharing the secrets of looking like a Victoria’s Secret Angel, and it takes more than fluffing your feathers to strut the catwalk for that famous fashion show.
The 2014 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is held in London on Tuesday, and Adriana as well as her supermodel friends such as Alessandra Ambrosio, Elsa Hosk, Doutzen Kroes, Behati Prinsloo, Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge and Karlie Kloss have been preparing for months, revealed the Daily Mail.
To help the supermodels stay in shape, the gym at the hotel where they are staying will provide them with extended hours.
“Boss Ed Razek sets the very strict rules for the girls. He sees the Angels as athletes,” said a source.
In accordance with that image, Adriana Lima has become a fan of boxing, both for fitness and for entertainment, she told Elle.
“I love to watch [boxing] on TV; it’s something that fits my personality. I think that’s the secret about working out, to find something that fits your personality. I’m very energetic. I can’t stay still. I’m all over the place, and I need to move around. So that’s something perfect [about boxing]: You’re always moving, you’re constantly moving no matter what.”
Lima also praises boxing for forcing her to focus only on what’s occurring during her workout. She compares it to a physical form of meditation.
“Boxing for me is [great because] it takes so much of your concentration. You need a lot of focus. If I go running, for example, I will be thinking about everything: what I’m gonna do, what’s the next thing, I think about everything. When I do boxing, it brings me to a zen place, because you have to focus and you can not think about anything else. And I love that.”
Adriana trains with Michael Olajide Jr. at Aerospace NYC. A former champion boxer and fitness expert, Michael has created a routine named Sleekify designed to burn calories while toning Lima’s muscles, as shown. It’s all designed to help her “#trainlikeanangel.”
As for diet, Adriana admits that sticking to her diet has become a priority. But it’s not just about her appearance. She also views her low-carb diet, modeled after Paleo diet guidelines, as essential for health.
“I really try to eat as healthy as I possibly can. Vegetables, protein, knowing how to balance the right amount of carbs—that’s for me,” said Lima. “Because my metabolism is slowing down right now, I have to be careful now.”
As the Inquisitr reported, Adriana’s nutritionist advised her to change to a Paleo diet for weight loss and health. Her low-carb diet requires her to avoid processed foods, sugar, dairy, and grains.
