Susan Boyle Off The Market For The First Time
Singer Susan Boyle is generally very private about her personal life, but she’s opening up about a recent milestone. People Magazine is reporting that Boyle is in a romantic relationship for the first time at age 53. Boyle refused to reveal the identity of her new beau, saying that it would be unfair to him. What she has said is that he is a 53-year-old American physician.
According to Boyle, the two met during the American leg of the recent tour for her sixth studio album, Hope. Both Boyle and her new boyfriend were staying in the same hotel. The two bonded over a romantic dinner date. Boyle describes her boyfriend as a “perfect gentleman.”
Boyle rocketed to fame in 2009 after an appearance on Britain’s Got Talent. Audiences and judges of Britain’s Got Talent were initially dismissive of the frumpy, cheeky Boyle. Then the 47-year-old singer started her rendition of “I Dreamed A Dream” from Les Miserables and left everyone in the room pleasantly stunned, especially the notoriously difficult judge Simon Cowell.
In December, 2013, Boyle revealed the reason for her sometimes awkward interactions. Boyle has Asperger’s syndrome, an autism spectrum disorder. The diagnosis came one year after Boyle’s triumphant run on Britain’s Got Talent. After a lifetime of being told that she had brain damage from oxygen deprivation at birth, Boyle saw a Scottish specialist who diagnosed her with Asperger’s Syndrome. In fact, the specialist told Boyle that her I.Q. is above average, contrary to what doctors had been telling her all of her life.
“Asperger’s doesn’t define me,” she said. “It’s a condition that I have to live with and work through, but I feel more relaxed about myself. People will have a greater understanding of who I am and why I do the things I do.”
Since receiving the Asperger’s Syndrome diagnosis, and winning Britain’s Got Talent, Boyle seems to have a new level of confidence. In November, the always jovial Boyle did an impromptu pose session for photographers in London, which culminated in her lifting her skirt to flash a bit of leg in the vein of Angelina Jolie.
Representatives for Susan Boyle confirmed that the singer is dating. They also confirmed that the American leg of her recent tour was a success, so much so that she will be back in 2015. Boyle’s sixth studio album, Hope, contains covers of John Lennon’s “Imagine” and Paul Simon’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water”
Boyle performed another track from the album, a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” at the annual Children In Need charity special.
