New ‘Game Of Thrones’ Video Game Hits Shelves On December 2
Game of Thrones fans who want to throw themselves into the action, fighting for the iron throne of Westeros, will soon have a new opportunity to do so. Telltale Games has confirmed a December 2 launch date for their new Game of Thrones video game, Game of Thrones Episode 1: Iron From Ice.
Fansided reports that the new Game of Thrones game, which is the first of six to be released by Telltale, will give even hardened Game of Thrones junkies something to hold their interest. While the game will have plenty of familiar characters from the TV series, the focus of the game will be House Forrester, from A Feast for Crows. Fansided observes that even hardcore Game of Thrones fans hardly have this obscure house on their radar.
House Forrester, according to Fansided, comes from Ironrath, in the far north, and is “fiercely loyal” to House Stark. But, they observe that the voiceover that is heard in the trailer is that of Cercei, which “leaves some mystery as to our character’s objectives.”
Gamerant says that the new game will have members of House Forrester “working to solve a problem in Westeros.” What exactly that problem will be hasn’t been revealed. But we do know that during the course of play, the characters will encounter familiar faces in familiar locations from the Game of Thrones TV series. Those faces will be very familiar, as the game carries the imprimatur of HBO. That means that the actors from the Game of Thrones series provided the models for the characters in the game, which will likely add to the game’s appeal for diehard Game of Thrones fans.
Telltale has already released a trailer for the game, but the company is promising a new trailer on Monday, December 1. Gamerant says that trailer will give players a good idea of what to expect from the game, but will not give away any secrets. However, Game of Thrones fans are cautioned to proceed carefully after the game’s release, for fear of spoilers.
The new game adds to the buildup for season five of Game of Thrones, which will premier on HBO this coming spring. As reported in the Inquisitr, HBO recently debuted a Game of Thrones website, ThreeEyedRaven.com, which encourages visitors to sign up for tweets or texts about the upcoming season. That site followed closely on the heels of the Game of Thrones teaser trailer, featuring Arya Stark.
Game of Thrones Episode 1: Iron From Ice, will be released on December 2 for PC, Mac, and PS4. It will be available for Xbox One and Xbox 360 on December 3. Game of Thrones fans who want to play on their iOS devices will have to wait until December 4.
