HD Remakes: Here Are The Games I Want Upgraded Or Ported For PlayStation 4, Xbox One
HD remakes of popular or bestselling games are starting to reach the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Starting the trend was Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, as Square Enix took the blockbuster reboot of Lara Croft’s adventures and gave them a next generation look. Others soon followed, such as The Last of Us, Duck Tales, and now Grand Theft Auto V.
As many franchises are being taken to the exclusive next level (ignoring Ubisoft’s admittedly sub-par Assassin’s Creed Unity), there are some amazing games we’re left wanting either a port of or a remake from the ground up, without sacrificing the core gameplay.
It’s unfortunate that Radical Entertainment is done with making games, because one HD remake I want to see is Prototype, possibly combined with its sequel. The open-world mayhem you could create, and the over-the-top monsters you had to fight with ever-expanding powers, made it the open world superhero game we needed before Rocksteady gave us their take on Batman. Just keep the evolution system from the first game, and possibly throw in some new powers.
On the subject of Batman, I would like to see Rocksteady add an extra level of detail and release Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, and Batman: Arkham Origins all in an HD bundle if possible for the PS4 and Xbox One. This would give fans a complete package after Arkham Knight launches, and we would then have the complete story on one console instead of having to switch back to play the older ones.
I mentioned earlier that Assassin’s Creed Unity was a disappointment, as even revealed by reviews across the internet, but the series has had some incredibly popular games before. A bundle of HD remakes of the Assassin’s Creed series would be a welcome addition to the new consoles. I can’t be the only one who regularly replays AC II, my second favorite from the series, and would miss it if I had to say goodbye to my older console.
An Assassin’s Creed HD bundle would help us forget how much Unity failed. Are you listening, Ubisoft?
As much as every update to Street Fighter IV irked me, I’d still miss my Street Fighter if I was forced to move on. A box set of HD remakes could include Street Fighter II, III, IV, and the Alpha series. Give us every version of each in case we’re feeling nostalgic. There is no need for a remake of SF EX, though. Nobody wants it.
The last set of HD remakes I’d like to see are the BioShock series, the Left 4 Dead series, and the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell games. I’ll take the latter without the annoying, unskippable minigames though.
Which games or series do you want to see an HD remake or bundle of?
