Awkward Moment When F1 Champion Lewis Hamilton Fails To Recognize His Girlfriend’s Voice
That awkward moment when your girlfriend’s song is playing on the radio and you don’t even recognize her voice.
Sounds impossible? Well it’s not — especially when you are 2014 Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton. The 29-year-old British racing driver was a special guest on BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show when he failed to recognize one of his girlfriend’s songs. Presenter of the Radio 1 Breakfast Show, Nick Grimshaw, engaged Hamilton in a lighthearted, trivial music quiz and played the song “Scream” recorded by Hamilton’s girlfriend and former Pussycat Doll, Nicole Scherzinger.
According to Euro Sport, Hamilton, who is known to enjoy rapping in his spare time, noticed immediately that famous producer and recording artist Timbaland was involved in the song — but could not recognize Scherzinger.
“Which one is that?” Hamilton inquired.
He was then told that it was his girlfriend’s song and that was when the awkward moment truly occurred, as he tried to justify the gaffe.
“I can’t believe you did that to me. I’m going to get it when I get home. The worst thing is that was a great song. We weren’t together when she did that song.”
Hamilton, who has been dating Scherzinger since 2007, also spoke about his relationship with the X Factor judge on British daytime television show This Morning. According to the Mirror, Hamilton said he and Scherzinger were too busy with their respective careers to think about family life just yet.
“With our careers people perhaps don’t understand that she lives in LA, I live in Monaco and we’re in and out all the time. Schedules are changing all the time. She’s doing Cats now which means she’s here [in London] for the next two months and I go away and do my training, so during the year we’re always apart. She’s amazing with kids, I think we’re both pretty good with kids, but we don’t have time for that at the moment.”
Hamilton may be right about the couple not having time for a family. The Daily Mail reported that the couple split in 2010 to focus on their careers before getting back together. But one thing is for sure, it was definitely not an awkward moment for Lewis Hamilton earlier this month when Nicole Scherzinger moved to London.
The Daily Mail reported that Scherzinger, due to starring in the West End revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Cats, moved to London. The singer said she found her long distance relationship with Hamilton difficult and is looking forward to making her relationship work with the move to London.
Hopefully this will reduce future faux pas and awkward moments on Lewis Hamilton’s part.
