Will Smith Congratulates ‘DWTS’ Star Alfonso Ribeiro With Awesome Pic
Will Smith congratulated Alfonso Ribeiro in one of the classiest ways possible – by posting a throwback pic that speaks volumes!
Will Smith posted a picture of him and his Fresh Prince of Bel-Air co-star on the set of their hit 90s television sitcom dancing side by side. The Oscar-nominated actor used the caption of the picture to reach out to his former TV cousin with a funny message.
“Congrats Alf. You killed it – Just like I taught You!”
Will Smith posted the throwback picture and congratulatory message to Alfonso Ribeiro on his official Facebook page Wednesday.
Earlier this week, Will Smith basically went on a social media campaign for his longtime friend and former TV costar.
On Monday, the Focus actor reached out to his fan base of more than 74.4 million Facebook likes – asking them to “show Alfonso Ribeiro & Witney Carson enough love” so that they could hopefully get enough votes to walk away from the competition with a win.
Later the same day, Will Smith took his promotional campaign for Alfonso Ribeiro one step further by posting the phone number, as well as the Facebook link, for fans of his favorite Dancing with the Stars contestant to use when voting.
It is true that Will Smith did not make an actual appearance in the audience of Dancing with the Stars to show his support as Alfonso Ribeiro endured an impressive, yet painful journey towards his big victory. Many people thought that he would have shown up – especially since Alfonso’s former TV sisters Karyn Parsons and Tatyana Ali showed up to cheer Alfonso on as he got closer to the finals.
However, by promoting Alfonso Ribeiro online to his massive social media following, Will Smith clearly played an instrumental role in getting the man formerly known as “Carlton Banks” the votes that he needed to seal the deal.
In an interview with E!, Alfonso had a chance to acknowledge the support of his longtime friend and former TV relative.
“That was really awesome. I love you, Will. He jumped out there and showed us the love. Hopefully that was a little bit of help to get us over the top.”
What do you think? If it wasn’t for Will Smith supporting Alfonso Ribeiro when it counted the most, would he still have walked away with the Mirror Ball trophy Tuesday night?
