David Guetta To Provide Remix For Band Aid 30’s ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’
David Guetta will provide a club-friendly dance remix of Band Aid 30’s “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” for producer Sir Bob Geldof.
For those who missed the memo, Geldof assembled a new group of musicians, including One Direction and Ed Sheeran, to re-record the aforementioned holiday tune to benefit those struggling with the Ebola virus in West Africa. Not surprisingly, the updated song became one of the fastest-selling singles of the year.
According to the Independent, Geldof approached David Guetta to toss some EDM-flavored beats into “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” Although it’s unknown when Guetta intends to release the remix, apparently the French DJ plans to make it happen very soon.

Geldof explained the situation to the Vodaphone Big Top 40 show.
“I’m in France, I made contact with [French DJ] David Guetta, and he texted back after I asked if he was interested in the mix, and he said, ‘ye, why not.’ So we’ll have the whole dance scene covered.”
In addition to David Guetta’s new version of the song, the producer hopes to release solo editions of “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” in the near future. The Huffington Post explains that nothing is set in stone just yet, but Geldof is keeping the idea in mind.
“Yes, I’d like that to happen. Honest to God, I’m serious, it’s a shame if these versions don’t come out. As performances they’ll just knock you sideways.”
The forthcoming remix of the re-imagined Christmas song isn’t the only project David Guetta has to offer fans these days. The Inquisitr previously reported that the DJ released his latest studio album, Listen, earlier this month. While the offering is sure to appeal to his loyal fans, critics believe he won’t win any new followers with the record.
In fact, Time reviewer Jamieson Cox believes David Guetta has effectively fallen behind his contemporaries with his latest trip to the studio.
“[A]lthough Guetta can still craft a stadium-sized synth hook with relative ease, something about Listen — its structure, its lyrical content, its tones and decisions — feels a little outdated, like it would’ve sounded more at home a half-decade ago than now. That’s the trouble with a genre as vital and volatile as contemporary EDM: artists who reigned over their peers one year can find themselves struggling to keep up by the time they’re ready to release their next record. And while Guetta was instrumental in conditioning popular music for the rise of DJs and producers with his last two records, Listen finds him falling a half-step behind today’s dominant forces.”
