WWE News: Sting Vs. Triple H Will Be ‘Worn Out’ Before WrestleMania 31, Claims Jim Ross
While the WWE Universe may have loved it when Sting stared down Triple H at Survivor Series and made sure The Authority was disbanded, Jim Ross says speculation about a potential match at WrestleMania 31 will be “worn out” by time the biggest PPV of the year rolls around.
In a related report by the Inquisitr, originally it was the intervention of Randy Orton that was supposed to cause The Authority to lose, but the WWE apparently changed their minds in the week before the PPV. It’s even rumored that Sting himself did not know what was going to happen until the Thursday before the weekend began.
Sting’s impact on the WWE is already beginning to be felt, and he’s only made one appearance based upon his new Brock Lesnar-like WWE contract. Monday Night RAW’s ratings increased the day after Survivor Series, and he did not even grace fans with his presence. Social media also noticeably lit afire based upon Sting’s return to the wrestling ring based upon Nielsen’s new Twitter TV rating. In comparison, the Hell in a Cell PPV had 1.8 million strong audience for the show, while Survivor Series had a unique audience of 2.8 million user. Survivor Series had total tweet impressions of 25.2 million, which represents the number of times the show was tweeted about, which is about 11 million more than Hell in a Cell’s 14.4 million. The main event even managed to generate enough comments that it came in number two right behind the 2014 American Music Awards.
The sudden boost has everyone speculating when and where Sting will have his main match. Everyone assumes events will culminate in Sting having an actual match with Triple H, but based upon what Vince McMahon stipulated before the match that’s supposed to be up to John Cena now. Paul Levesque and Stephanie McMahon are only supposed to be wrestling a desk now so it’ll be interesting to see what reason WWE Creative gives Cena for allowing Triple H back into the ring at all.
The real question is how sparingly Sting will be used. It’s believed a possible Triple H Vs. Sting match could occur at Royal Rumble 2015 for some reason, and then The Undertaker and Sting could finish off their careers with one final match. But it’s endless speculation like this that has Jim Ross blogging negatively about the prospects.
“If Sting wrestles HHH at WM31 I think that they would have an excellent match that would be well paced an tell a clearly understandable story that would be easy to follow. Nonetheless, this matter will likely be over analyzed and worn out by the time the big event gets here. Much like the business is at times over thought it seems as if some fans are following suit and second guessing whatever is put on their wrestling plate.”
So it’s very possible WWE Creative could try to not be so predictable and surprise everyone again. If that’s the case, Sting Vs. Triple H may not occur at all and they will go a completely different direction.
What match would you like to see Sting do in order to finish off his wrestling career within the WWE?
