Calvin Harris Snaps Back After Getting Called A ‘Lavishly Rewarded Space-Bar-Presser’
Superstar DJ Calvin Harris took a hit after the release of his new album Motion when a review was published in the Times of the Scottish giving Harris’ record two stars. The scathing article goes one step further by calling Calvin Harris “the world’s most lavishly rewarded space-bar-presser.” Since the publishing of that review, Calvin Harris has fired back in defense of his music via his Twitter account.
According to Scotland Now, Calvin Harris did not take the review well. In response, he started a social media firestorm, riling up many Calvin Harris fans to leap to his rescue. Harris reminded the Times of the Scottish that he has been the creative force of many musical projects in the past, seemingly admitting that being a DJ may not be the most creatively demanding genre of music. Calvin brought up the fact that he was the “sole writer and producer of ****loads of hit records… but i understand not convenient to mention this.”
And his Twitter rage spiral didn’t end there. Calvin Harris went on to post several more tweets in defense of his own talent and his album, Motion.
I bit…I admit it…still beats giving them idiots interviews tho? — Calvin Harris (@CalvinHarris)
Only downside is media people assume a lot of things…they wana know how I did it so badddddd…I just want you to know, not them — Calvin Harris (@CalvinHarris)
Calvin then went on to claim that he overcame the odds by turning himself into a successful DJ, having grown up in a tiny Scottish town and worked to deserve the millions of fans and followers he has now.
I’m living proof that you can do it too…producers writers singers you can do it too…I’m from a small scottish town I did this no help — Calvin Harris (@CalvinHarris)

This isn’t the first time Calvin Harris has used Twitter to lash out against people who have wronged him. Earlier this year, Calvin Harris essentially dumped his girlfriend Rita Ora by tweeting an emoji at her of a hand waving goodbye.
Calvin Harris has also received criticism from his fellow musicians, including the frontman for Reverend and the Makers, Jon McClure.
“[Calvin Harris] doesn’t even like his own music,” said McClure. “People graft all week and pay a hundred and odd quid to go to a festival and when he plays live he’s just pressing play on a CD. C’mon mate.”
Harris fired back against McClure on Twitter for those comments as well, which surprised McClure.
“He lives in a mansion in Malibu and earned £60million last year and I live in a terraced house in Sheffield,” McClure said about Harris’ angry response. “Why does he even care?”
