MTV star and journalist Diem Brown lived her life to the fullest throughout her brave ten-year battle with cancer. That said, her life was a little longer than what we originally thought.
According to Diem’s sister, Megan Brown, who spoke to People magazine , Brown shaved a few years off of her life by lying about her age. For Diem this was just one thing she needed to keep to herself, after being robbed of so much by cancer.
People discovered that although her birth year at the funeral was listed as 1982, according to her birth certificate Brown was born in 1980, which would make her 34 and not 32.
Megan Brown explained his sister’s choice to hide her age. “Cancer robbed Diem of 10 years of her life. She worked in an industry where age matters.”
She continued to explain Diem’s thought process. “She felt cancer took away enough from her. We all agreed whatever age she wanted to be, we would support her.”
As the Inquisitr reported her MTV The Challenge co-stars celebrated her life in an intimate New York City service that was held in honor of Brown’s life and legacy.
Brown’s on-again-off-again ex boyfriend Chris “CT” Tamburello was joined by Challenge stars Evan Starkman, Evan Starkman, Kenny Santucci, Mark Long, Johanna Botta, Ace Amerson, Paula Meronek, KellyAnne Judd, Ruthie Alcaide, Aneesa Ferriera, Laurel Stuckey, Cara Maria Sorbello and Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio.
After resting by her side in the hospital, Tamburello went silent on his social media accounts until a few days after Diem’s death. He posted an Instagram message in the wake of her death.
“You have always been my Angel. And now you have your winds. We’ve been thru so much over the years. Thru the ups and downs we somehow managed to keep our promise. We never gave up on each other. Our plan to be together forever hasn’t changed.. it’s just going to take a little longer now. And I’m going to hold onto this ring for you till we are together again. So don’t worry mama, I’m not afraid. I know you will always be with me to give me your strength. You are The Love of My Life. My reason to be a better man. I Love You Always and Forever.”
The next day he posted a photo of himself standing next to his mother and father, and captioned it with a message addressing his fans and supporters.
“Hello everyone, My family, and I, want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and kind words you all have shown me during the hardest time of my life. I honestly did not expect to receive so much support. I am going to take some time for myself. And before I go, I thought it was appropriate to let everyone know that you are all appreciated. Thank you so very much!”
