WWE News: Altercation Between Sting And Triple H At Survivor Series To Set Up A WrestleMania 31 Match?
As we come off a great WWE Survivor Series which saw Dolph Ziggler become a star as well as the much anticipated debut of Sting, it appears that WWE could have set us up for a match at WrestleMania 31. As we saw, Sting debuted at Survivor Series costing The Authority the win. While he really didn’t do anything past hit Triple H and put Dolph Ziggler’s arm over Seth Rollins to help Team Cena, tehe impact was still felt.
Clearly The Game will not be happy with “The Icon,” and this is set to lead into a match for them. What Culture is reporting that due to The Undertaker character quietly being retired, WWE now wants to set up a Triple H/Sting match at WrestleMania 31. It makes sense as well. The altercation between the two was significant. It cost Triple H and Stephanie McMahon literally everything. The one thing Triple H does have is that he is still considered a WWE talent. He never officially retired from that and still wrestles.
This could be exploited to help set up the match.
Sure, many want to see Sting vs The Undertaker. It has been the dream match for decades seemingly.
The Icon vs The Phenom would sell tickets all day long, but the issue is that Taker simply cannot go anymore. Undertaker said a long time ago that he doesn’t want to stick around like others if he does not feel he can compete at the best of his abilities. The last number of matches he had in WWE, despite it being just one match a year, were great.
However, after being hurt last year by Brock Lesnar and feeling his age, Taker just wants to retire.
No one can blame him for that either.
Now having The WWE Legend vs the WCW Icon makes as much sense as anything else. Sting is rumored to be part of WWE programming leading up to the event. A potential match with Triple H would be interesting. We know Triple H has not lost a step and would certainly keep Sting safe in the ring. In fact, Triple H is considered one of the safest to work with despite the Cerebral Assassin nickname.
He is The Game and considered “the measuring stick” for all Superstars. That said, there is really no one else on the roster potentially past Bray Wyatt that would be able to give us a great match with Sting that we truly want to see. Sting has been asking for a least one match in the WWE, and many fans want to see it. It is freakin’ Sting of course!
We still do not know why Sting did what he did, or what his role is in WWE. However, we’ll probably find out more about this either tonight on WWE RAW or in the coming weeks. This match will most likely not be fully set up until the first of 2015. Expect a rivalry of some sort to start tonight though.
