Sting Makes His Long-Awaited WWE Debut At ‘Survivor Series’
Sting has been one of the most well-known names in the wrestling world for close to three decades and he’s done virtually every single thing imaginable in the squared circle. Well, that is he’s done everything in a wrestling ring except show up in WWE, but that has finally changed. On the evening of November 23, the “icon” Sting appeared on WWE television when he showed up at Survivor Series.
As the main event went on between Team Cena and Team Authority, Dolph Ziggler remained for the good guys and was being destroyed by Triple H. That was when it happened.
Sting appeared on WWE television.
He entered the ring and went face-to-face with Triple H to a huge ovation, and it was something that every wrestling fan has waited for as the crowd chanted “THIS IS AWESOME!”
Triple H began talking trash and then took a shot but missed. Sting hit the Scorpion Death Drop, dragged Ziggler on top of Rollins, and left the ring.
Since his debut back in 1985, many wondered when Sting would head on over to WWE as Ric Flair, Lex Luger, and so many others eventually did. It never happened during his prime, but it was inevitable that it would happen some time before his retirement.
It was back in April that Examiner.com reported Sting had officially signed a contract with WWE. From that point on, everyone wondered when he would show up in the ring.
From there, he was announced as being in the next WWE video game, but still never appeared on WWE television. Still, fans and wrestling websites continued to say that he would end up wrestling one more match and the rumor is that it would be against the Undertaker at WrestleMania 31.
Earlier on Sunday, WrestleZone reported that Sting had indeed been secretly flown into St. Louis for Survivor Series. They said he would appear in an unveiling before or after the Divas Elimination Tag Match, but things didn’t end up working out that way.
It was a night that had a stacked card already and was to have a main event of Team Cena versus Team Authority for control of WWE. There was a whole card of other great matches set for the event, but the rumors of big-time appearances started flying within the past week, and that was for more than just Sting.
Randy Orton was written out of storylines a couple of weeks ago with an “injury angle,” but it was really so he could go film The Condemned 2. There were also rumors of injured star Roman Reigns appearing on the show, and he did, but it wasn’t in the way that fans were hoping he would. Reigns appeared via satellite and said that he would be returning to action next month.
Still, it was the debut of Sting that everyone had been waiting for and it finally happened after all these years. He was the only big-time wrestling name to never show up in WWE, but Sting has appeared, and it’s showtime, folks.
