Obama Acts Like Putin, Ben Carson Claims [Video]
Barack Obama is acting a lot like Russia’s quasi-dictator Vladimir Putin, Dr. Ben Carson declared on Friday.
Carson drew this parallel between the two presidents during an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network.
The retired director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Carson rose to national prominence in the political realm after slamming Obamacare and political correctness at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast with Obama sitting two seats away. Carson revealed late last year that he was subject to a first-time IRS audit after going public with Obamacare criticism.
In the CBN exchange, Carson was responding to the interviewer’s question about whether the incumbent president has overstepped his constitutional authority as it relates to executive action on amnesty for illegal aliens and other administration policies that have bypassed Congress.
Explained the doctor:
“Without question. And hopefully the legislators in Congress will understand what they need to do… They need to have a spine, they need to stand up, because once you allow someone to take liberties with the system, they’re not going to stop. They’re just going to keep going until you stop them. You know, Our president is very much like Putin. ‘Oh, well gee, there’s no resistance here. Well, oh, OK, then I’ll just keep going.’ The resistance needs to be there.”
When asked what he would tell the president if he had a chance to sit down with him for a brief dialogue, Carson noted that he would say that “Sir, I understand that you have very defined ideals of what you think America is, but you work for the people; they don’t work for you. And I’d like you to reevaluate your goals in light of what’s good for America and not what’s good for your agenda.”
Recently changing his party affiliation from independent to Republican, Dr. Carson is also considering tossing his stethoscope into the ring in a campaign for the White House in 2016.
He informed ABC News This Week on Sunday morning that he would decide by May 1, 2015 whether he will run for president.
As far as the basis for his potential candidacy as an outsider, Carson told the ABC panel the following.
“I want to make it about those who want the United States to be a country where the government conforms to the will of the people versus those who want the people to conform to the will of the government, and that’s the big divide that we have right now. That’s what the people are talking about. That’s what they talked about a couple of weeks ago in the election. They are saying isn’t this our country? Isn’t it for, of and by the people? This is what we need to be talking about. I don’t care if it’s a Democrat or Republican. That’s who needs to be up front.”
