Raven Symone Slams Bill Cosby Rape Rumors, Was ‘Practically A Baby’
Rumors claiming that actress Raven Symone was assaulted by Bill Cosby started surfacing earlier this week.
The 28-year-old actress did not allow those rumors to continue circulating for very long before deciding to come forward and reveal the truth about what happened between herself and Bill Cosby.
In a picture message posted to Raven Symone’s official Instagram page on Wednesday, the That’s So Raven actress squashes those rumors by saying that there is no truth to them at all.
“I was NOT taking [sic]advantage of by Mr. Cosby when I was on the Cosby Show! I was practically a baby on that show and this is truly a disgusting rumor that I want no part of! Everyone on that show treated me with nothing but kindness. Now keep me out of this!”
According to Hip Hop Hangover, the actress was “raped and drugged” by the Cosby Show actor years ago following the series finale of the hit show.
The website went on to claim that Raven’s lawyer was ready to speak out about what Bill Cosby did to her back then, which she refrained from revealing sooner out of respect for Bill Cosby.
However, from her recent Instagram post, Raven Symone stated that there was no truth to any of those rumors.
Raven Symone has known Bill Cosby since she was three years old and was first introduced to him long before she was introduced to Cosby Show fans and critics as Olivia Kendall.
At the age of three, Raven Symone auditioned for a role in the hit 1990 Sidney Poitier-directed film, Ghost Dad which starred Bill Cosby in the lead role. Even though Raven was considered too young for the part, Bill Cosby decided to bring her on-board The Cosby Show as his step-granddaughter Olivia.
Raven Symone first appeared as Olivia Kendall at the beginning of the sixth season and remained on the cast until the end of the series – long after her TV parents (Joseph C. Phillips and Lisa Bonet) stopped appearing.
In the years following the series finale of the Cosby Show, Raven Symone has enjoyed a successful career in television series (such as That’s So Raven), blockbuster movies, music and on the Broadway stage.
There are numerous women that have come forward recently, accusing Bill Cosby of inappropriate sexual behavior – including rape, assault and being “sexually aggressive.” However, Raven Symone made clear with her Instagram post that she is not one of them.
