Occupy Founders Thrilled By Zuccotti Park Eviction
Now that New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has evicted Occupy Wall Street protesters from Zuccotti Park co-founder of the movement Micah White is speaking out, praising the mayor for his move.
Speaking about the eviction Micah said on Monday:
“I just can’t believe how stupid Bloomberg can be!”
Micah goes on to state:
“This means escalation. A raising of the stakes. It’s one step closer to, you know, a revolution.”
White and his founding Occupy partner Kalle Lasn say they had feared that the movement was beginning to lose some of it’s momentum until Bloomberg made the monumental eviction misstep which only heightened the movement by allowing them to lash out at the cities billionaire mayor.
According to the New Yorker protesters were prepared to claim a victory and then spend the winter months coming up with a new “phase” for the movement, instead the eviction led to the end of Phase I (marches, meetings, signs, camps) and the beginning of Phase II which will include “surprise attacks against business as usual.” Lasn also says that he suspects that Occupy protests will be “more intense and visceral, depending on how the Bloombergs of the world react.”
Speaking to NYMag Lasn said:
“The chessboard has been overturned, and now a new game begins!” while telling the magazine about Phase II, “The stakes are so much higher this time. First, we need to let the dust settle.”
If you’re already an Occupy protesters do you plan to continue on to phase II as it launches against “business as usual?”
